And that was exactly what I did.
TWENTY-THREE
RAYNE
“Who all is goingto the party tonight?” Cade asked as I folded my dress from last night and placed it in my overnight bag.
“It’s Vivian and Dominick’s party, so those two, obviously. And Delaney is going to be there. But they are the only people I know.” And maybe Vivian’s cousin, Hugh, but I didn’t really know him, and Vivian had never said if he was going or not.
I looked over my shoulder at Cade. He was lying on his side on the bed with his head resting in his hand. He wore jeans and a sapphire-blue T-shirt that matched his eyes. He looked just as sexy as he had last night in his black dress pants and gray button-up shirt.
My body still tingled from the way he’d made love to me last night. His words, not mine. And while it had been clear from our dinner conversation that he wanted this arrangement between us to be temporary, no man had ever made me feel as beautiful and as special as he had the night before.
For someone who didn’t do relationships, he was creating very high standards when it came to me finding my next boyfriend.
I pulled my hair pick from my bag. It was mid-afternoon, but Cade and I had slept in, so I had only gotten dressed after a long shower a few minutes earlier.
“After this month is over, do you think you’d consider putting me on your list of regulars?” I asked as I combed through my wet hair.
“What?”
I turned to face Cade, who was in the middle of sitting up. “I was just thinking that I need to not rush into my next relationship. But a girl has needs, you know.” I laughed. Finger combing my hair to make sure I didn’t have any tangles, I threw my pick back into my bag. “So, what do you think?”
He had a deep frown on his face. “Are you looking for a boyfriend?”
I chuckled. “Well, not right now. But I don’t see myself being single forever.” I stepped closer to him and tugged on his shirt. “Unlike some people I know, I like being in a relationship. I like having someone to spend time with and do things with. I understand liking the freedom of being single, but it also gets lonely.” I ran my fingers through his hair. “Something you must never get.”
“Do you have someone in mind?” he asked, still looking unhappy.
An image of Hugh flashed in my mind. “No.” It wasn’t a lie. I had only met the guy once, and for all I knew, it might have been the only time. The only reason I was thinking of him was because of Vivian’s party tonight.
When he didn’t answer, I pressed a thumb between his eyes to get rid of the crinkle there. “Why the frowny face? If you don’t want me to be your regular, you can say no. It won’t hurt my feelings, if that’s what you’re worried about.” I tapped my chin. “Maybe I should find my own regulars. I have a feeling my vibrators aren’t going to cut it after—”
I shrieked in surprise as Cade grabbed me by the hips and threw me on the bed.
Before I could ask him what had come over him, he stripped off my sweater and yoga pants along with my bra and underwear.
He shoved off the bed. “Don’t move,” he commanded with a pointed finger in my direction and spun around to his closet. After digging for a few seconds, he walked out with something in his hand.
I lifted my head to—
“I said, don’t move,” he barked.
Someone’s in a mood.
He had seemed fine earlier, but maybe he needed to get more sleep.
He grabbed one wrist and then the other and slapped something against each of them. Even though he’d told me not to move, I dared a look and saw soft black handcuffs circling each wrist with the chain threaded through his headboard.
I smirked. “Kinky.”
He met my eyes. “Do you have anything to say?”
If he meant our safe word, he was going to be waiting a long time. I didn’t know what had gotten into him, but I was fully on board with this ride.
“Have your way with me, sir,” I said with a smirk.
He growled and yanked his jeans open. After straddling my chest, he ordered, “Open.”
