“Maybe because he thinks you’ll say no or he doesn’t think you can do it.”
Cade’s jaw tightened.
“Ormaybe he wants to do it, but he can’t quite say yes, and you winning this bet will be the push he needs,” I offered.
“Maybe,” Cade said as if he knew I had only said that to make him feel better.
“Are you more bothered that he might think you can’t do it or that you won’t get to sleep with multiple women?”
He scowled at me. “The former. But also, I don’t sleep around because I need a new woman in bed every night. If I sleep with the same woman all the time, she’s going to get the wrong idea and think I want a commitment.” He looked away. “That, and a few other reasons.”
Too bad Cade didn’t have someone he trusted not to fall in love with him after a month of being together. He needed someone like me, who had known him forever and saw him as a friend. Who also wouldn’t mind having sex with him.
I eyed him up and down. I definitely wouldn’t mind getting naked with Cade. With his repertoire, he could probably teach me a thing or two.
I gasped. “Oh my God.”
“What?” he asked.
“I know how badly you want Blaze to happen, but are you willing to go through with the bet?” I laughed at the thought forming in my head. “Because I have an idea.”
THREE
CADE
My eyes fellto Rayne’s plump lip as she chewed on it. I could almost see the wheels turning behind her brown eyes, and I couldn’t help but smile.
“What’s your idea?” I asked. I couldn’t wait to see what she was concocting in her cute head.
Beau dangling our restaurant in front of me was definitely the most tempting thing he could have offered for me to agree to this bet of his. The only problem was, I had no desire to settle down with anyone, and the thought of picking one woman to screw for a month almost made my dick shrivel up. Almost. The reason I had multiple regulars was because I liked to fuck. A lot. I didn’t want anyone to get too attached to me, which was why I spread repeat visits out. And sleeping with someone regularly for thirty-one days might give them the wrong idea. But the alternative sounded worse. Going a whole month with zero sex sounded like torture.
So, if Rayne had an idea of how I could win this bet without getting tied down with someone, I was all ears.
She looked down at herself, then back up to me. “Never mind,” she said with a chuckle. “It was a silly thought.”
She started to face forward again, but I stopped her with a hand on her knee.
“I doubt that.” I rubbed my thumb over her smooth skin. “Tell me. Let me decide if it’s silly.”
She arched her neck and looked around before relaxing back in her seat. “If I tell you this, it stays between the two of us, okay?”
My eyebrows flew up. While I considered Rayne a friend, she was my best friend’s little sister first, and I didn’t think we’d ever had a secret that we kept from Beau. Or Em for that matter.
“It doesn’t concern my brother or Em, but it is embarrassing, which is why I don’t want anyone to know,” she added when I didn’t answer her.
I nodded. “Your secret is safe with me.”
Rayne opened her mouth, paused, grabbed her margarita, and downed the rest.
I chuckled. “Liquid courage?”
“Yeah, something like that.”
Rubbing my thumb on her knee, I said, “Take your time.”
“Can’t. Beau and Em will be back soon, and I absolutely donotwant my brother to hear this.” She sucked in a big breath and then exhaled.
“Rayne, it can’t be that—”
