I didn’t believe her that she was fine.
This was why I didn’t do relationships.
When I wanted to fuck a woman, I did. No games. No wining and dining. And now, I had to smooth things over with Rayne if we were going to get naked tonight. And I really wanted to get naked with this woman. It had already been too long, and what had happened between us last night had me itching to see how good sex was between us.
It was a good thing this was Rayne, and she was worth a little extra effort.
Soon, we pulled into my garage, and I turned off my SUV. When she opened her door, I stopped her from getting out with a hand on her arm.
“Wait.”
She turned in her seat to look at me and studied my face. “Oh no,” she said, her shoulders sagging.
“Oh no? What’soh no?”
“You’ve changed your mind.”
“What?”Changed my mind?Not a chance.“No.”
Her eyes brightened. “You haven’t?”
“Fuck no.” I frowned. “Why would you think that?”
“Because you stopped me from getting out. Because you have such a serious look on your face. Because now that we’re at your house, it seems more real.”
I shook my head. “You have to stop thinking the worst all the time when it comes to the opposite sex.”
“Well, to be fair, the last time a man looked at me like you’re looking at me, he told me he wanted to break up and that…” She cringed. “You know the rest.”
I thought back to how she’d sucked my thumb in the restaurant kitchen, and it only added to my suspicion that Rayne had been with the wrong men.
It also got me hard again.
I picked up her hand and placed it on my erection. “I very much still want to do this.”
She was staring at my lap when she licked her lips. “Me too.”
“Jesus Christ,” I muttered, imagining her sucking my cock like she had my thumb.
Her eyes jerked up to mine, and she tried to pull her hand away.
I didn’t let her.
“What’s wrong then? Why did you stop me from getting out?”
“You seemed…unhappy. I wanted to make sure you weren’t upset with how our afternoon went. I know what women mean when they say,It’s fine.”
She leaned closer and used her free hand to cup my face. “When I told you it was fine, I meant it.” She smiled. “Have I ever sugarcoated anything for you?”
I grinned. “No.”
“And I’m not going to start now just because we’re going to have sex.” She dropped her arm. “I’m almost thirty. I don’t have time for games.”
Funny how she’d used that word.
“Then, what’s wrong?” I tilted my chin down. “And don’t tell me nothing’s wrong. I’ve known you for way too long.”
She shook her head and rolled her eyes. “I’m nervous. I’m trying to tell myself not to be, but I can’t help it.”
