“No, don’t, boss. He needs the hospital, and you need to find Fiona. I can’t reach Seamus either or Grady.”
Whoever attacked us knew who to go after to cut me off.
“What about Brody and Rory?” Fear grips me that I’ve lost them too.
“Rory is at the club. His guards just messaged that someone tried to come in and attack him. Brody is with your father.”
“Call them,” I growl as I feel something dripping down my face. I reach up and my hand comes away bloody. I pull out a handkerchief from my jacket pocket and wipe the blood away.
“Let me help you. Come on, we need to move. The ambulance has pulled up.”
We move toward the house, away from the activity, and step into the gun room. My mobile chimes from the kitchen and I head to the sink to wash my face and wipe the blood off me.
“It’s Seamus and Brody,” Shane says as he hands me my phone. I look at the messages and call Seamus first now that I know my brother and da are safe. The clubhouse was blown up too, but no one was badly injured.
“Where is she?” I growl into the phone.
I can hear the report of gunfire across the line.
“Just a moment,” Seamus yells. The phone sounds muffled. I can hear him talking to someone, then quiet. “Boss, she was taken from the flat. Some of her jewelry was left at the bakery but she still has two of the bracelets on. Her phone was left at the bakery too. She has a missed call from an unknown number. There was also a note from Sir.” My blood slows as the ramifications of what he said sinks in. Sir has my wife. I’ll destroy him and the Hierarchy if one hair is hurt on her head. But then reality sets in. My men are hurt and scattered. He simultaneously attacked my men as he captured her. It was a brilliant plan, but he didn’t realize one thing. I will call in every favor I have to get my wife back. “Boss, you there?” Seamus’s voice shakes me from my thoughts.
“Meet us at the warehouse.” I hang up as I move out to the driveway. “Shane, let’s go. Round up as many men as you can but leave some with the injured to protect them.”
“On it, boss.”
I climb into the passenger seat and dial the number that will get me the help I need to get my beauty home.
“Securities International. How may I direct your call?”
“Joshua and Maya,” I demand, skipping the formalities.
“They are in a meeting.”
“Now,” I growl.
“I’m sorry, sir, they aren’t to be interrupted. I can take a message.”
“Tell them to call Aidan back as soon as possible.” I hang up and call Seamus back.
“Boss?”
“Do you still have Fiona’s phone?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m going to need it.” I hang up as Shane races toward the Belfast harbor where we rebuilt a warehouse we destroyed last year. A serial killer had taken one of the S.I. members captive and held her there. I destroyed the building after she was rescued. We rebuilt it be another place for us to conduct business. It’s mostly empty right now, but it contains all the equipment I’ll need once I know where Fiona is and we set up a plan to get her back.
I need to protect Fiona’s friends. The last time she was taken a friend was threatened. I dial Brody because, even though Moira hasn’t admitted it yet and Fiona hasn’t caught on, Brody knows everywhere that Moira is. He’s had her followed since that first time he saw her. I guess it runs in the family because he’s taking cues from me on what I did to protect Fiona.
“Yeah.” His voice sounds gravelly and tight.
“Do you have eyes on Moira and the other girls?”
“Um, about that…” He pauses and now I know why he’s stressed out. “Moira’s detail hasn’t checked in for a couple hours. I was with Da and didn’t want him to catch on about her, but now I’m heading that way. Da is secure.”
“Okay, after you get it figured out, call Rory and have him and his detail keep the girls safe. I’m going to need you.” I hang up and send a group text requesting any of the men that are able to meet us at the warehouse.
“Update from his detail, Lex is being taken into surgery for a bullet in his chest.”
