So I burst.

Falling apart in his arms, my orgasm locks me in a hold as Reign grips me, his hips speeding up until he’s pounding into me so hard a scream breaks from my throat, the balcony railing rattling behind us.

He lets out a growl, his body coiling tight as he reaches his own release, his limbs shaking as he grips me tightly.

I drop my face to his chest, inhaling him as I slowly come down, falling back to reality. Reign lifts me into his arms, holding me against him as he walks us back inside. I keep my eyes closed, my face against his chest as he maneuvers us through our apartment.

Lowering me from his arms, I can feel our soft comforter curl around me, and then the mattress dips as he lays next to me. His warm arms curl around my waist, and I snuggle into him. His fingers comb the dark hair from my face, and my eyes settle closed as his lips press against my skin.

“We’re here, motherfuckers!” the voice shouts down the hall, and I bolt up until I’m sitting. Reign lets out a groan, rolling over in bed as I pull the sheets up over my naked form.

A stampede of feet rumble down the hall before our bedroom door is opened, and there they are.

My best friends.

Archer, Kyler, Posie, and Vienna all stand in the doorway, watching us with bright smiles.

“I’m not waiting until you get dressed. I don’t even give a fuck,” Posie chuckles, racing around Vienna and running toward the bed. She bounces on the bottom, and I jolt a bit as she crawls toward me. I open my arms, keeping the sheet under my armpits as she falls into my embrace.

“I didn’t think you guys were arriving for hours,” Reign grumbles into his pillow.

“Change of plans. We left sooner. Couldn’t wait any longer to see my baby Lake,” Archer says as he walks up to me. Posie crawls to the side, and I grip the sheets tightly as I move to my knees. Archer walks up to the side of the bed, wrapping his arms around me as he pulls me against him. His fingers go to my hair, and he messes it up as he tilts my head back “Missed you, Lakyn.”

I curl forward, hugging him tightly. “Missed you too, Arch.”

“Get fucking dressed, Lakyn,” Reign growls, sliding out of the bed. He walks to the dresser, pulling it open and grabbing one of his shirts, tossing it against my back.

I roll my eyes as I grab the soft white fabric, pulling it on as discreetly as I can.

“Lakyn,” Vienna’s soft voice has me pulling back from Archer, glancing over at her.

“Hi, V,” I whisper. I haven’t seen her since she was so mad at me, though we have talked a few times. Water is under the bridge—for the most part, anyway—but it is still painful. To know I was a part of her lover’s death.

She lifts her hand, a small box in her palm. “We saw your mom before we left. She wanted me to give you this and said she’ll see you next month.”

I nod, knowing of her upcoming trip. I’ve only talked to her twice since I left. The first time she was angry, hurt, absolutely devastated over what had happened. The second time she was much more calm, wanting to come see me on my new life adventure.

I take the small box from her, feeling the dark blue velvet against my fingers. Lifting the lid, a soft smile lifts my lips when I see a crystal-blue diamond wrapped around a delicate silver chain. Turning it over, I see a small script in the center.

Love you from afar, Mom

I blink away my oncoming tears, shutting the lid, squeezing it tightly in my palm.

I miss her.

“Lakyn,” Kyler mumbles, leaning over to kiss me on top of my head. “It’s different without you guys there.”

I glance up at him. “You guys can always move up here.”

Posie laughs. “We belong in Hellcrest Heights, Lakyn. You know this.”

I nod. I know. I used to belong there, too. But not anymore.

“We only have a few days. So let’s do all the shit we couldn’t do last time when we were here, locked up in this jail,” Kyler says.

“I’ll get the drinks!” Vienna shouts, running out of the bedroom.

“Fuck, Vienna, the sun is barely fucking out yet!” Reign snaps.
