“Yeah, what he said.” Jacks nodded.
Amira sighed as she looked at Luther and asked tiredly, “What do you want now?”
They all stared at her.
She looked down at her wet clothes. “How...?”
Luther saw her confusion and then noted that he too, was wet. He looked over at his men. “What just happened?”
They all stared back.
Some shrugged as others slowly shook their heads while looking flabbergasted.
Diesel opened his mouth to explain then he promptly shut it as if he had no idea how to explain it.
....Rissa heard Lucifer as she came out of the vision.
“Rissa!” he called to her.
Blinking her eyes, she looked over at him and whispered in awe, “So, it is fated.”
He stared at her in confusion. “What?”
She looked away from his sharp pointed look. She could not interfere in what has been fated, so she could not speak of this. “Our training is through for now. I am...a bit tired.
It was nighttime when they finally rejoined the others.
Rissa went and sat down.
Winsome came over to sit beside her as she stared at her mother. “How did it go?”
Rissa shook her head. “He is a stubborn man, I’ll give him that. But hopefully I got through. He learned some of the basics, but he still has a long way to go.” She walked over to the clear wall and searched the area below. “How are things down there?”
“The wolves backed off for now but I think they will come back after dark,” Diesel informed her. “They are in the woods, so they haven’t backed off much.”
“Have you seen the red wolf?” Rissa asked quietly.
Winsome moved over to her mother and wrapped her arm around her shoulder. “He’s still there, Mother. He’s waiting and watching how the bikers react.”
Rissa looked at her daughter and asked, “And how have the bikers reacted?”
Diesel and Steel joined them at the wall.
“Like they should, they defended our home,” Diesel answered her question. “But like I said, I think the wolves are waiting for nightfall to come back and I think they plan on burning the place down.” He shrugged. “That’s what I would do.”
Rissa turned to look at him. “That is what you would do?”
Diesel shrugged. “I know about war. I know what an opponent might try.”
Rissa returned her gaze back to the view below. Suddenly, she frowned and cocked her head to one side as she listened for a moment then she smiled. “They are coming. My People have heard the call and they are coming.”
Amira and Luther joined them.
“Are you sure, Grandmother?” Amira asked.
Slowly nodding her head, Rissa smiled. “Yes child, I can hear their heartbeats. They are almost here.”
