The woman stared at him and glanced over at the men with her. Then she looked at Swag. “Why would the color of my hair freak you out?”
“Diesel wanted me to research the people who lived here before we moved in. I went back twenty five years and found a small group of people that did. They were led by a shaman of a Native American tribe. She was called Rissa and the people that lived here were peaceful. They lived off the land and kept to themselves. But this Rissa had powerful magic and she lived in the actual mountain that’s here. What made her unique was the fact that she had blue hair. She also had a daughter named Winsome. There isn’t much known about Winsome other than the fact that she died early on in her life.” He shook his head. “I got into a chat room and was talking to some of the locals and they spoke of rumors involving Winsome’s death and they all said she died of a broken heart. But they didn’t know who or what broke her heart.”
The group with the girl all seemed to shuffle their feet while looking troubled.
Swag just stared at her and shook his head. “It was just spooky that I was sitting here looking at all that then you walk in having blue hair.”
She just stared at him. “What happened to the woman and the rest of her people?”
Swag shrugged. “Nobody knows, they up and just disappeared. One day they were here and the next day Rissa and her people just didn’t live here anymore.”
Luther turned his head to stare at her.
She refused to look at him. Instead, she stared at the man they called Swag. “Do you know where they went?” she finally asked.
Swag shook his head. “I couldn’t find that out. I really don’t think anyone knows that.”
Luther shook his head.” First off, what are your names? I can’t just call you darlin.” He almost smiled with his words.
The woman shrugged and stared back at him. “What are yours?”
Luther was tired of this runaround bullshit. “Why the hell can’t I just get a fucking straight answer from you?” He glared at her.
She sighed and pointed at the three men with her. “This is Kinsen, Jacks, and Trent.” She pointed to her chest. “My name is Amira.”
“So I’ll ask you again Amira, what brought you here?” Luther demanded.
Amira stared at him. “I don’t know. I just felt I had to come here for some reason. Your mountain called me here.”
Luther just glared at her. “That isn’t any kind of answer, woman.”
She shrugged. “It’s the only answer I got.”
“Well then, I guess you’ll be our guests until you can tell us the truth.” Luther growled. Looking over at Diesel he said, “Let’s give these guys a room and put them in the cells.”
Kinsen, Trent, and Jacks just glared at him.
Jacks shook his head. “You can’t keep us here.”
“Oh, the hell we can’t.” Diesel growled back. “You trespassed and we don’t like our privacy disturbed by trespassers.”
Amira shook her head. “We haven’t disturbed your privacy one little bit. We didn’t come here to watch you in any way.”
“But darlin,” Luther broke in. “You came back here after we told you not to and we don’t like that. We make the laws here on our land and you broke one of them. You came here for a reason and when we ask you what that reason is, you won’t tell us. You can see our dilemma right?”
Several of his men turned to stare at their prez because of his use of the darlin’ endearment.
Amira folded her arms over her chest. “I didn’t come back to spy on you, you big dummy. In fact, you don’t interest us at all. We weren’t hurting anything.”
Luther shook his head and smirked. “Well now, I am insulted by the dummy remark, but since you won’t stay away, we are interested in you.” He scoffed. “Show them to a cell, Diesel. Maybe a few hours behind bars will loosen their tongues.”
Amira glared at him then turned and followed the man called Diesel.
He led them down the stairs into a dark damp basement. There was no light other than the lightbulb in the middle of the room.
He opened one cell door and Amira walked in.
Diesel slammed the door shut and turned the key in the lock. Then he opened the second cell door and the three men walked inside.
