Griffen shook his head. “Come on, we have to get out of here and get patched up the best we can. Then figure out what we’re going to do next. There has to be a way to get out of this with our skin intact. We just need to find it.”
They all groaned as they got to their feet and stumbled into the shadows of the trees.
Luther and his men stared out at them as they moved around a bit while talking, though they all remained on the ground.
“Should we waste them?” Diesel asked his prez.
Steel nodded. “We could end this right here.”
Luther turned to glare at them. “We do not commit murder.”
His men all lowered their heads, knowing he was right.
“Have you learned nothing from watching and listening to those cretins?” Luther demanded. “They are loyal to fucking nothing, not even each other. Do you all want to be like that?”
Rissa stood and hobbled over. “He is right. And yes, it would be more than easy to do it that way. But their fates were sealed the minute they came here.”
“Their fate?’ Luther stared at her.
“Yes.” She nodded. “And had you done as your man suggested, you would be no better than them. This fight started the day Milo took Amira. That was years ago and none of you can affect the outcome.”
“Well, then who can?” Steel asked.
Rissa looked over at Amira, then up at Luther.
The men all did the same... glancing at Amira then looking over at their prez, Luther.
“Fire and Ice.” She gave them a nod.
Luther stared at her. “I mean no disrespect, but we just live here. We had nothing to do with what happened in your tribe’s past.”
Rissa chuckled. “Oh? You think you all just came here for the freeways and the malls?”
Steel scoffed. “There isn’t anything like that here.”
Swag shook his head. “That’s her point, Steel.” He shook his head.
The men all chuckled.
Luther did not chuckle. “I explained it to you, Rissa.”
She gave him a nod. “And so you did. You said, you all were not like others. You made your own rules. You spoke like you had been wronged at one time.” She slowly looked around to meet each biker’s gaze. “If you all think that it is just a coincidence that you were drawn to this place...” She shrugged. “You can believe anything you want. However, before this is done...You will all know what is true.” She gave a nod to her council men. “Come, I am an old lady and I’m all tuckered out.” She chuckled.
Luther and his men all stared at her and the group as they moved to the door.
“Wait,” Luther called to her.
She turned to look at him.
“Where are you going?”
“Yeah, as I recall, there ain’t no motels out there either,” Steel teased.
“You can stay here,” Luther offered. “It would be safer.”
Rissa cocked her head at her and glanced over at Amira as she smiled. “That is very kind of you, Mr. Fire. And I mean no disrespect but... This place is filthy. I wouldn’t even bring coyotes in here to sleep.”
Amira burst into laughter.
