No. Oh my god, no.
“Are you two brothers?” I demand.
“Cousins. That a problem?” Felix raises an eyebrow.
I recover quickly, shaking my head and throwing him a sweet smile. But things are starting to come together in my head.
Felix Grayson is the son of Edwin Grayson—who’s one of my father’s biggest rivals. And Dominic is related to them.
Fuck. How did I not see it before?
“You all right, Jade? You look pale,” Dominic says.
“Fine. Um. Why is he here?” I nod to Felix.
“Helping with the body. Samuel? Stephen? Something like that.”
“Simon.”
“Yeah, whatever,” Felix says. “Doesn’t matter anymore. I’ll take care of him, and Dom is gonna clean up the bloody mess in your bathroom.”
I nod, looking between the two of them. If Felix is Edwin’s son, then chances are, he knows how to dispose of a dead body. But...
“His phone,” I say. “We messaged.”
“I’ve got it taken care of. Records won’t even show that he was here.”
My body sags with relief. I’m good at what I do, but dealing with tech at that advanced of a level is beyond my training.
Dominic steps up to the edge of the bed, running a hand over my hair. “You don’t have to worry.”
Trust me.That’s what he said to me before I fell asleep. I’ll admit, I was worried. I trust that he’ll do everything he can to not have this pinned on me, I really do. It’s his ability that I doubt.
Well, doubted. Now that Felix is here and I’m realizing that Dominic is part oftheGrayson family, things are a bit different.
“I’m not worried,” I say, lying back down and smiling when Dominic adjusts my blankets. “Thank you for taking care of this.”
He kisses the top of my head, and it eases the remaining anxiety lingering in my mind.
Felix makes a disapproving noise. “Hypocrite.”
Dominic flips him off, and then the two of them disappear into the bathroom. I’m not sure what Felix meant—I’ll have to ask Dominic about it later. But right now, I’m exhausted, and all I want to do is get some rest. So I fluff my pillow, roll onto my side, and close my eyes, letting the deep timbre of Dominic’s and Felix’s voices lull me to sleep.
. . .
When I wake, it’s to the ringing of my phone. A quick glance and the faint smell of cleaning chemicals tells me that Dominic and Felix have finished their work and left.
I grab my phone. If it’s Dominic, and he needs help with something, then—oh.
“You’ve got to start calling me at normal hours.”
“This is a normal hour,” David says. “I need you to get some information from your neighbor.”
“What?”
“His brother and his girlfriend are currently hiding out somewhere. Blaze Grayson and Brooke Hendricks. I need to know their location.”
“Why?”
