Pixie’s mouth opened and closed several times before she could articulate a single word.

“Why?”

I shook my head, I’ve said enough. The rest was up to Dom when he got back. It was high time he told her who and what he’s been protecting her from and what he’s been fighting for.

“You can ask Dom that question when he gets back. It’s his story to tell.”

With a shrug I settled my jacket around my shoulders and buttoned it as I prepared to leave. But there was one more thing I had to say before I walked out the door.

“I’m too pissed off to talk to you tonight, Pixie. So, tomorrow my lawyers will be contacting you. You will take the offer, sign the paperwork and we will become your silent partners for as long as you need the loan. You can pay us back once you start making a profit. We won’t interfere, the business stays yours. Frankly, after what you just spewed I’m not interested in being in business with you, but I’m doing it for my best friend because he asked me to help you. So against my better judgement I will.”

I turned to leave but then turned back.

“And just to clarify, if after everything I’ve said you’re still determined to sell your shares…I will buy them. You won’t sell them to anyone but me. The Maingarde Corporation will stay in family hands or you and I are going to have problems. Do we understand each other, Elizabeth?”

Using her full name shocked her and so did my threat.

Luckily for her she didn’t say a word, she just nodded.

I shoved my hands into my pockets to hide the fine tremors from view.

My insides were boiling with rage and I needed to get out of there.

Get away from her.

Get away before I said something I shouldn’t.

“I’ll see you in a week.” I growled at Kellen before I turned and stalked to the door.

One of my men opened it as I approached and I left without saying another word.

Getting into the back of the car I sat in silence as I was driven back to the Maingarde building.

As soon as I got into my office I would have to call Dom.

He was going to be pissed at me, but it couldn’t be helped.

It was time to rip the plaster off and tell Pixie everything.

CHAPTER THREE

Kellen

I watched Gideon Acheson stalk to his car and slide into the back seat. Once he was settled his bodyguards got in and they drove off.

Never in my life have I seen a more dangerous or a more beautiful man. Don’t get me wrong, Pixie’s older brother was gorgeous, but this man had something else. Something dark and dangerous looked out of his green eyes and it made my blood sing.

When he became pissed at Pixie, he had looked evil as hell and it had shivers racing up my spine. It should have been bad shivers, but they weren’t, they were the good kind.

The turned on kind.

“Holy shit, that man is seriously scary.” Pixie suddenly whispered.

“You pissed him off and he reacted. You said some pretty shitty things to him, Pixie.” Jakes said very quietly.

Pixie sighed heavily. “I know. I was awful and now I’m sorry I said all that stuff. We all know what they do and who they are. People are scared of them, Jakes. People are scared of my brother and his best friend and it freaks me out. I know they aren’t all bad, nobody is, but…”

He didn’t let her continue, for a prospect it was very brave to voice his opinion.
