A wide grin flashed over her face and she slapped my thigh playfully. “You are so full of shit. I’m sure you guys aren’t as bad as you pretend to be. You and my brother both.”
Only after she had done it did she realise she had laid a hand on me and she looked shocked and a little flustered and immediately moved away then jumped up.
“I have a late appointment tonight so I’ll be at the shop until about eleven.”
“I hope you’re not going to be alone with your client because that’s not safe.” I frowned as I stood. I didn’t like the idea of her in the shop with some asshole and no protection.
Again she rolled her eyes at me.
“Don’t worry, I won’t be alone, Kellen will be there with me. And Rooster will have one of the prospects watching the shop as usual, so no worries.”
No worries? The woman had no idea what was going on right under her nose.
“I’ll see you later, Pixie, and then we’ll have a chat about your options.”
She narrowed her eyes and stared at me for a few seconds before she nodded.
“Fine, see you later.”
With that she turned and virtually flew out of my office.
Walking around the desk I sat down, lay back in the chair and swung my feet up onto the desk. With my hands resting on my midriff I thought about how I was going to get her to agree to the plan we had come up with.
When we had our discussion about those damned shares Dom had been adamant about her holding onto them for any children she might have. And that’s why he has been avoiding talking to her about it. Their relationship was still a work in progress and wasn’t as close as he wanted it to be. Therefore he was reluctant to discuss something that might affect the progress they had made so far.
And that is why it had landed solidly in my lap.
Cursing softly I picked up my phone and sent Dom a text.
Meeting with LS later. Will report on outcome.
Ever since we were young boys we had referred to Pixie as LS.
Little Sister.
And that’s what she would always be to me.
My best friend’s little sister and by extension mine as well.
Someone I had sworn to protect with my life.
And I would, without giving it a second thought.
CHAPTER TWO
Dominick
The phone vibrating against my chest was unexpected. Gideon knew I was locked in sensitive negotiations and would only contact me if it was important. Excusing myself from the conversation I stepped back and slipped my phone from the inside pocket of the suit jacket. Swiping it open I read the message, deleted it, closed the phone and slipped it back into my pocket.
Keeping my face expressionless I re-joined the conversation as if I had never left.
Controlling my expression was a necessary skill I had learned at an early age. It was necessary if you wanted to survive around the Harrison bitch.
Gideon would meet with Pixie and lay out our plan. If she agreed we would invest the money needed for the expansion of her business and there would be no need for her to sell her shares in the Maingarde Corporation.
It meant we would become silent partners in her business in our private capacities.
I just hoped my prickly little sister agreed to the plan.
