He turned and his blue eyes were dark and filled with rage. Stalking to his desk he slammed the glass down and resting both hands on the desk stood with his head hanging low for a few seconds. Drawing in a deep breath he lifted his head, straightened, then turned to me. He was more in control but not by much.

“Someone tried to take my little sister from me. I want to know who it was. I don’t care what it takes, find them. Then find out why they thought they could take her from me.” He snarled through tightly clenched teeth.

My best friend’s legendary control was gone. Pixie was his weakness and whoever had tried to grab her had wanted to exploit it. And attempting to kidnap her right outside the hospital where she had been visiting Kellen was a slap in our faces.

Showing us our families weren’t safe at all.

Any closure I had gained during the session downstairs was gone.

The bastards had obviously followed her to the hospital and were waiting when she came out. Thankfully they failed.

“Do you think it’s a last ditch attempt by the hag to get to you?”

He gave a short nod.

“I do. Going after Pixie was big a mistake and it’s going to cost her. The men we have watching the farm reported in while you were busy. Sharma and his men left an hour ago. I’ve contacted the other players in this party and everyone is ready. We have to wait for Hawk’s signal before we can take her down.” His voice sounded rough, almost like he had to force words from it. I knew by the sound of it that he was beyond rage. I was the only one who knew the extent of the sacrifices he had made to keep his little sister out of the clutches of the hag. And to have her try to snatch Pixie when we were so close to finally ending her was infuriating.

It was my job to keep my best friend calm and thinking rationally.

“I’ll reach out to Rooster and arrange to have one of ours present during the interrogation once they’ve got the bastards. The teams are ready; we’ll go after the hag once we get the word from Hawk. Sharma is going to attack the compound and when he does we’ll take her and whoever is with her down. And hopefully we’ll find Mitch. He’s been silent since his last call and I have a bad feeling about it.”

So many things were happening at once. I had to arrange for Kellen to be discharged immediately. We couldn’t wait. He had to go to the Iron Dogz MC’s compound today. He wasn’t safe at the hospital even with all the security we’ve got around him.

“My team will be working on our plans while I go to the hospital. I need to take Kellen to the Iron Dogz MC’s compound today. I can’t leave him there. He’s too vulnerable. Plus it divides my attention from what I have to do here. I need to know he’s safe.”

Dom gave a slow nod.

“Do it. Get Rico to run the logistics and get your man safe. We’ll talk when you get back. I’m going to call Pixie and see how she’s doing. Now that you’ve calmed me down and I know I’m not going to shout at her.”

I grinned. “Why would you shout at her? It wasn’t her fault they tried to grab her.”

Dom shook his head. “She allowed some bastard to load her on his bike and ride off. What if it wasn’t someone who wanted to help? What if he had been a part of the kidnap attempt? When he interfered she should have run back into the damned hospital not get on his damned bike.”

My phone pinged and I realised I had it in my hand. I had no idea when I withdrew it from my pocket.

The text was from an unknown number.

I was expecting the attempt and had a man on her. Glad to help.

Damn. It was as we had suspected.

I turned my phone towards Dom.

“You were right. It was Orlov’s man who saved her.” I said quietly.

“Damnation. This is forcing my hand. I will have to take a second meeting with him. Who the hell is this man and what does he really want from me?” He wasn’t expecting an answer to his question. “Get out of here, Gid. Get Kellen settled. We’ll talk strategy when you get back.”

Giving him a nod I slipped my phone back in my inside breast pocket and left.

In my office I made a couple of calls arranging to have Kellen’s discharge papers signed by his doctors. Satisfied that it would be ready when I got to the hospital I left with Darren and Lex.

I didn’t expect the two members of the Iron Dogz to be in his room when I walked in.

“Look who it is.” Spider said teasingly as he stood and shook my hand. “Good to see you again.”

“Good to see you as well.” I removed my hand and ignored the bikers.

“Are you ready, baby?” I asked with my eyes trained on Kellen who was fully dressed and sitting in a wheelchair next to the bed.
