She gave a quick nod and focused on the screen. Her way of letting us know she was done talking about it.
Lex was the only woman who had made it onto the team around Dom. She was intensely focused and her loyalty to him was absolute. Years ago we found her being held in a situation very similar to our own. We extracted her without a second thought. As part of her recovery she started training then asked to stay and eventually earned herself a place on the team.
She became a part of our strange little family.
I felt the change in Dom before he spoke.
“As much as we would like to take her out right now, we can’t. We are part of a concerted strike against the Harrison Syndicate and as such we have to wait until everything is in place. Sharma and the hag are salivating to take out Hawk Walker and his club and will be moving against them soon. As soon as they do we’ll be going after them. We’ll strike and strike hard.” He looked over at Rico. “Did your teams find anything under the mansion that could lead us to Mitch?”
Rico shook his head.
“Nothing at all. We found several caches of weapons, and signs that someone had been down there recently but that was it. I suggest we close down some of those tunnels to stop the bastards from sneaking back in.”
“That’s a good idea.” I agreed with Rico. “We need to secure the mansion as much as we can because it’s your family home. You need to be seen taking ownership back from the hag. When this shit is done we need to organise a party or something to celebrate the Maingarde family being back in residence.”
Dom laughed while shaking his head. “I want to see you telling Pixie she has to move back to the mansion. She hates the place. Our grandmother Carlysle’s house is much more her style.”
I grinned and shrugged. “Her creepy house is falling down around her ears. It has been neglected for too many years and it’s costing her a mint to renovate. Maybe we can convince her to stay at the mansion while her house is being fixed up.”
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it, Gid, for now we let sleeping dogs lie so we don’t get bitten.” He said with a grin.
He turned back to the screen and the grin disappeared.
“To get back to the problem that Sergei Orlov threw into our laps. Rico, I want a deep dive done on Sergei and his family. I want everything you can find on him. Do the same with the Demidov family. We need to know all there is to know about them. I want a full background on those in power, their seconds and their top teams. I don’t think it will be easy to find but you have my permission to reach out to some of our contacts if you need to. More importantly, I need to know who the most obvious candidates are that they might send after Pixie. Get me names and photos. The same with the women they might send after me.” He gave a thin evil smile. “They are going to find that the Maingarde siblings aren’t the easy marks they think we are. We’ve learnt not to trust easily. Rico, let’s see the photos of Orlov and Delamotte again and this time enlarge them.”
“You got it, Boss.” Rico clicked the remote and a photo of two men, side by side, appeared on the screen.
“The man on the right is Orlov and the one on the left is Delamotte. Memorise their faces because we will undoubtedly be dealing with them again. If you see them anywhere near the MGC building or the hospital let either Gideon or me know. I’m not expecting them to show up but let’s be aware and careful for the next couple of days.” He looked at me before he continued. “I suspect that Gideon will be spending most of his time with Kellen at the hospital until he’s well enough to be released. Have security at their homes upgraded, we’re not going to take chances with their safety. I’ll be talking to Rooster about upgrading the security at Pixie’s shop and at her house. We’ll supply the tech but he will deal with her. She won’t allow Gideon or me to interfere but she will allow it from him or his dad. I want each and every one of you to be careful over the next few days. The Harrisons know who you are and that you are part of my inner circle. I’m sure they would love to get their hands on one of you. Don’t let it happen.”
I cleared my throat to get his and their attention. “I suggest we all stay here until this is done. We have rooms here and the building is highly secured and defensible. Plus when we go after the hag we won’t have to wait on anybody, we’ll be right where we need to be.”
“I agree.” Darren said with a nod.
“Anyone disagree with Gideon’s suggestion?” Dom asked.
By the headshakes no one disagreed.
“Good. Then it’s decided, we stay here until it’s time to bring the hag in.”
Every single face in the office wore a grin.
We were all on the same page.
And seeing that we were done here it was time for me to return to the hospital and a long night in an uncomfortable damned chair.
But I didn’t mind it.
I would suffer any and all pain to be by Kellen’s side when he next woke up.
And the same to keep him safe.
CHAPTER TWELVE
Gideon
Kellen has been doing great.
His doctors were happy with his progress and if it continued he would be coming home within the next two days.
