“What?” Adrian asks.
“It’s true,” Rachel admits. “Carter’s the only one who holds me all night. You and Silas both turn over and pass out like you’re made of solid rock.”
“See?” Carter says, smiling smugly.
Rachel bites down on her lip. She’s about to crush his hopes. I can see it in her eyes.
“I love it, but I kind of want to sleep beside Silas tonight. I haven’t been close to him in days.”
“Which I haven’t complained about,” I remind our Omega. “Despite the fact that our mate has spent every night for days on end with you.”
“Fine,” Carter moans. “Hint taken. I’ll sleep in my own bed tonight.”
“It wasn’t a hint,” Adrian reminds me.
I nod at Rachel, and we escape upstairs while they argue their way into the living room.
I take her hand in mine as we walk up the stairs.
“Did you think of anything you need to do tomorrow before we leave town?” she asks.
“I wondered if I should go back and ask for Kelly’s help again,” I admit. “I went over there this morning and Dante told me he’d ask her if I didn’t have any luck with her dad. Considering we’re about to leave town, I wondered if we might be able to get her help in case her dad doesn’t know where she is, either. If that’s the case, then we’d have a way to figure it out instead of waiting again.”
“That’s a good idea,” she tells me. “I can go over there while you check if Sara’s dad has come home yet. I know Dante can be kind of difficult.”
“That would be great,” I say.
The thought of going over there again wasn’t exactly a welcoming one.
At least Rachel’s more likely to get somewhere with the request if she goes.
Mostly because she’s Amanda’s friend, but also, she’s determined.
When there’s something she wants nothing can stop her.
She’ll get a yes out of Dante, I’m sure of it.
“I’m going to shower and get out of this T-shirt. I’ve been sleeping in it for days.” She pulls a face.
“Yeah, you should shower. You reek of Carter.”
She laughs. “Shut up, I do not.”
“You do so. I smell him all over you.”
“We’ve only been sleeping, nothing else.”
“Maybeyou’veonly been sleeping. Carter’s a deviant. He probably came all over you while you were passed out. Hell, he was probably passed out at the time, too.”
She shakes her head. “He was a perfect gentleman.”
“Well, you still smell like him, and I’m not having his stink all over my sheets. So go shower, and I’ll let you wear this T-shirt instead.”
“Oh, you’ll let me, will you?” she asks, grinning. “We’ll see about that.”
She slips into the bathroom and closes the door.
I head into my room and strip out of my clothes, leaving the shirt on the bedpost at her end of the bed. I take my boxers off after a second of hesitation. She’s in a flirty mood, and I haven’t had her close to me in days. If she wants some fun, I’m ready for that.
