“Now, Adrian,” she breathes, her wrists still trapped by his hands.

I shift into my human form, keeping the sharp, deadly teeth of my wolf.

Leaning forward, I tear into his throat with my fangs. It barely takes three seconds to end him.

His limp hands let go of my mate and she jumps away from him. I move back and let him drop to the ground. I lean against the wall, putting an arm around Rachel when she moves to my side, and using the other to wipe the blood from my mouth.

“I … They tricked me,” she says. “I heard them talking about looking for me and not being able to scent track in this house, so I didn’t think it was weird when I turned the corner, and they didn’t smell like my mates.”

“This place has been set up to trick us,” I tell her.

I catch Silas’ scent and look up to see him moving quickly toward us, my clothes in his hands.

“I see you took them out on your own,” Silas says. “Have you seen Sara?”

I shake my head. “I didn’t pass her. She isn’t here.”

“Damn it,” Silas curses.

He brings my clothes over. “Thought you might want these after you were done mauling those bastards.”

“Thanks,” I tell him. “I should probably get dressed. That one said it was ‘time’ whatever that means. He said we won’t be able to escape.”

“Time?” Silas asks, frowning.

The ominous sound of chimes starts up, so loud it feels like they must be right above us.

“When did this place turn into a church?” Silas asks.

“Midnight, I guess,” Rachel says, showing us the time on her phone.

The floor seems to shake under our feet, as the chimes go on and on.

I throw on my jeans, and step into my sneakers, T-shirt grasped tightly in my hand.

I know exactly what time it is.

“Time to get the fuck out of here.”

Chapter Sixty-Eight

Carter

Amandahangsupherphone and tells us Dante and Kelly are on their way, just as the sound of church bells start to ring out into the night. I don’t see a bell on the roof of the house, but it damn well sounds like that’s where the sound is coming from.

“What the hell?” I ask, a second before the ground rumbles under our feet.

“Did it just get darker?” Amanda asks.

“Uh oh,” Cheryl says, her lips pulling into a wry smile.

“Uh oh? If you know what that was …”

“Someone’s made a deal with the Dark Lord,” Cheryl says, making Amanda’s eyes widen. “That’s the sound of him coming to collect. It’s always after midnight when he collects. I think he just turned time forward.”

“Oh, Goddess.” Amanda holds her cardigan closed, looking absolutely petrified.

I suddenly get the feeling her Alpha and Beta have no idea she’s here.
