“It’s not enough,” Everett agrees. “Not when the asshole we’re heading out to fight has been selling Omegas. It’s too risky to leave them like this.”
“Amanda,” Rachel says. “I can ask her to teleport here with her Alpha. A witch and an Alpha would be good enough protection, right?”
“Her whole pack would be better,” Everett says, because he knows as well as I do that her Omega, Dante is a powerful warlock as well as a shifter.
“I’ll make the call,” Rachel says, picking her phone out of her pocket.
“Will she be in class?” I ask. It’s just after 2 p.m.
“I’m calling Sean’s garage.” She puts the phone to her ear. “Parker, hey! It’s Rachel.”
Everett sighs softly, his hands on the wheel as he rests back in his seat, eyes forward.
“Did Amanda and Dante tell you what’s been happening?”
I can’t hear Parker’s side of the conversation. Everett’s starting to grind his teeth.
“Yeah, we spoke to the ghost and we’re about to head out so Everett can challenge the Alpha.”
Everett frowns at me after a few seconds. “What’s that about speaking to a ghost?”
“We’ll tell you in a minute,” I say, lowering my voice when Rachel starts to speak again.
“Is Amanda in class? We kind of need some help for a few hours.”
Everett frowns. He’s getting more irritable by the minute.
“Babysitting duty, yeah. That sounds about right,” Rachel says.
She lowers the phone, covering the receiver. “Parker’s checking with Sean who they can send over.”
“All of them would be best,” Everett says.
Rachel puts the phone back to her ear, a minute later she starts to nod. “Sean and Dante can come. We just need to stay until they appear so Dante can find us and teleport to where we are.”
Everett groans. I nod. “That sounds great.”
“See you soon,” Rachel says. She puts the phone away. “Sorry, but I’m the one Dante can picture best because he sees me most days. He only met you guys once so he can’t reliably use one of you to get a location to teleport to.”
“Makes sense,” I tell her.
A few seconds later, they appear in the road in front of the car. One tall, buff Alpha dressed like an action movie hero, complete with tanned skin and wet hair, and one swarthy Omega wearing dark clothes and a scowl. It’s pretty easy to tell who the warlock is. I would never have pegged Dante as an Omega, but he definitely looks like he uses magic.
We step out of the car.
“Thanks for coming,” I tell Sean. “We wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t an emergency.”
Sean nods slowly. “It’s cool. We weren’t busy.”
He lets out a low whistle and gestures to the mansion. “This is your house?”
“I’ll open the gates,” Everett says, avoiding the question.
“Noah and Ivy are inside with Vi, and a little kid who thinks he’s a Beta,” I explain. “We can’t bring them with us but considering how sneaky the Limestone Ridge pack has been, we can’t leave them here without a little more security, either.”
“I get it,” Sean says. “It’s actually kind of nice to get out of Wolf Creek. It’s so damn hot there. Seems less humid here.”
“Hopefully, you won’t need to actually do anything,” I say, as the gate opens. “We feel so much better knowing you’re here while we’re gone. I’ll let Noah know you’re here. He’ll let you in.”
