“Both of you?” she says, looking at him.

“Yes,” he spits out.

Nothing’s going to stop me from challenging him again. Delaying this won’t prevent it from happening. If I’m forced to break my bond to Oscar, I’ll be even more determined to rip this asshole into a million little pieces as soon as the Witches Council let me off my leash.

I get up. He does the same.

“I’m early,” the witch says. “I’m assuming you have nothing more to tell me if this is how you decided to attempt to get your Omega back before he was taken away?”

“I wouldn’t say that,” I grumble, hoping I haven’t fucked up my mate’s more diplomatic plans. “Cheryl and Rachel need to talk to you.”

She nods. “I have a little time before we need to get started.”

“They can wait out here,” I tell her.

The Alpha growls. She turns and glowers at him.

“Must we behave like children?” she snaps. “It’s his house. His territory. You’ll wait out here.”

She follows me to the front door. I let us in, and Cheryl steps out of the lounge.

“You’re early,” she says.

“It’s a good thing this time,” I tell her. “She asked if we have anything more to tell her.”

Cheryl nods. “There are a few things.”

The witch sighs softly. “I thought there might be.”

“Living room?” I ask.

Cheryl nods. “I’ll grab Rachel, and our guest.”

Chapter Seventy-One

Cheryl

Myhandsstarttoshake when I turn to go back into the lounge. We have a solid reason to suspect Oscar could have been possessed. Conversing with Bianca in his dreams shows he’s sensitive to spirits, open to that kind of contact. It doesn’t mean it’s what happened, but the fact that blackouts are consistent with possession gives us enough room to question it.

“She’s here,” I tell Rachel, which makes my friend immediately get to her feet.

Georgia isn’t quite as quick to move. She gets up a little reluctantly.

“He’s here too,” she says.

“He is, but you don’t have to worry about him anymore.”

She takes in a deep breath and nods.

She looks at Oscar, who’s sitting on the couch closest to her, next to Vi and Ivy.

“Please look after Leo for me.”

“Of course,” he tells her.

She leaves the room with us, seeming even more terrified than she was the first time we went into the living room. Everett’s still agitated and barely covering his underlying rage, and she is officially going against the man she called Alpha by talking to Mabel about where she came from.

The witch stands in front of the fireplace, so Rachel and I take seats at either side of Georgia on the couch. Mabel frowns at Georgia. “I don’t recognize you. You’re not part of this pack, are you?”
