“They are all mated, right?” He chuckled nervously. I let out a growl and Luna started laughing hysterically.
“Oh, yes, no need to worry. You were the last one to find your mate and let me say that the Goddess did well!” I blushed to hide my face.
“That she did,” Osirus agreed as he grabbed my waist and pulled me in for a passionate kiss.Do we really need to go to dinner?
We arrived at the Elven tribe. Several tribes were scattered around the Golden Light Kingdom, but this was the largest one, called the Silver Light Tribe. The elves had many huts on the ground but also many homes in the trees. A series of rope bridge, ladders and swings were all over the branches, and several simple elevators made of bamboo, assumably to transport large amounts of food or goods to their homes.
There was a roaring fire in the middle of the area along with several smaller ones cooking various foods. The large fire had a massive animal called a sokeophant that resembled a hairy mammoth. The meat would be cooked and stored in various underground food storage that kept food frozen and cold for the winter months. Elves were very much into nature, like all the supernaturals, and used every part of an animal. Bones, hair, eyes, you name it, Lura said they would use it.
As we walked forward, a long table that could seat at least fifty people on each side stood before us. Small children were running around with sticks and balls as they were whacking it side to side in some sort of game. Girls were playing with marbles while their mothers continued to stir the stew and other Elven men came out of huts holding large plates of biscuits and bread.
My stomach growled again, and Osirus clenched me. “Father!” Lura yelled, waving violently. “Your hunt was fruitful! How did you get such a massive beast down yourself!?” Lura ran up and gave Zaos a hug.
“No, your mate Matteo helped me. Once the beast was brought down, the elders helped bring the beast in pieces.” Zaos gave his daughter a peck on the cheek and motioned for us to come over. Zaos gave one look to Osirus and let out the biggest greeting. “Osirus! My favorite nephew! What brings you here?”
“Trying to get away from people, but we keep getting found out,” Osirus muttered under his breath. I giggled and nudged his arm, and he only sighed while his arm still wrapped around me possessively. “Just trying to have a short vacation before the coronation and binding ceremony. Looks like the trees talk too much for us to hide.”
Zaos snickered and gave him a large pat on the back. “Well, congratulations to you both, anyway. By Gods, your wings are stunning. I’ve seen nothing like it!” I blushed and leaned closer to Osirus and murmured a thank you.
Zaos went to touch them, but Osirus immediately slapped his hand. “You may be my uncle, but you cannot touch what is mine,” he hissed.
Zaos backed up with both his hands up. “Finally, showing some emotion there, glad your father’s classes didn’t mess you up too badly,” he grinned. “How’s your father? Have you spoken to him recently?”
Osirus stood back and looked down at me with sorrowful eyes. “No, I know they accepted the invitation to the celebration. Maybe they will come early so we can patch things up.”
“You know”—Zaos grabbed a pocketknife from his belt and played with it—“he will be proud of you; you both have very different personalities on how to handle things and the way you handled it was best for this kingdom. He will see that when he gets here. And he will love your mate, I can already tell.”
“Thank you, Uncle, that means a lot to me.” Osirus gave a large smile.
“Of course, we were all rooting for you! That three-day battle, that one will go down in history as the shortest battle to win a kingdom to date!” He slapped Osirus’s back again and looked at me. “And certainly, you will too. There have been rumors about you being a half-siren and half-human, now it looks like the fae blood completed your body and now you are merge of the two. It certainly suits you; you are such an exotic specimen.”
“Um… thank you.” I smiled sweetly. I wasn’t some animal to be gawked at.
“Come.” He waved. “Come sit. We don’t use chairs, just the cushion of the soil. Food will be presented, and entertainment will be provided because of your presence! Malki! Go get the dancers!”
Osirus explained the dynamics to me briefly about how the elves ran their tribe. Zaos was voted the tribal leader some years ago once he became mated with his mate, Annabelle. The fae blood made him strong since he had a high-ranking blood like his father before him. Annabelle was the previous Elven leader’s daughter. It was a match made by the Gods, and they had been governing side by side.
The group was coming together quickly. Men and women flooded the tables with colorful foods of bread, meat, vegetables, desserts, and drinks of all kinds. Many I had never seen, much like at the palace when I first arrived. Each tribe had their own unique tastes, and I was about to engorge myself with all of it.
As I was gawking at the food, the heated stares burned my skin. Looking around, I saw males, females, and children staring at both of us. Mostly with curiosity, they were whispering, and I knew they were talking about us. I grabbed Osirus’s arm and to silently ask what it was about. Osirus pulled me close and kissed my lips as I tried to hide from the stares. I never enjoyed being the center of attention. I didn’t know how this world couldn’t figure that out, but here we were.
“Your wings, darling. No one in this world has wings as you do.” I fluttered them a few times and the little children gathered around my legs, asking if they could touch them. Osirus let out a soft growl, letting them know it wasn’t all right. “Wings are sensitive and are only meant to be touched by mates. I’ll let it slide since you didn’t know.” The children nodded their heads before scattering while laughing at how Osirus growled like a wolf.
Zaos guided us to the head seat at the table, which felt odd; this wasn’t our tribe. I wanted to sit in the middle so I could blend in a little. I tried to have my wings folded back into my body, but Osirus urged me not to.
“It’s showing we are no longer hiding behind our natural state. We are making a statement among the elves we are changing the kingdom. Even the pixies and a few fairies are spreading the word about us being out in the open. Hopefully, when we return, many will follow suit.” Osirus brushed my white hair off my shoulder and kissed his mark, which gave me a pleasurable chill. “They are beautiful. You should be proud. Your father will be most pleased you kept your family’s colors.”
Nuzzling up close to Osirus, we were both gifted large plates of food. There were no utensils, and you had to use your hands to eat, but I was too hungry to care. I saw many licking their fingers and burping out loud. I tried not to laugh, but a few escaped my lips. Annabelle looked over and gave a light chuckle. “I forget you were raised human and don’t know our ways. Burping is a sign of thankfulness and how good the food tastes.”
I laughed out loud again. “I love it! I just wasn’t prepared!” Osirus started laughing at me as we started speaking about the random traditions of the tribe.
Osirus held up a piece of meat up to my lips to feed me. Our eyes lingered on each other as I opened my mouth to take the food. I purposefully sucked his fingers into my mouth, licking the juices from his fingers.
Osirus’s lips parted slightly as a small groan left his lips. “Darling, if you don’t stop, we might need to leave.”
I smirked at him as I licked my lips. “I don’t think I would mind,” I whispered.
I held up a piece of a sponge-like cake up to his mouth, and his eyes never left me as he opened his mouth and sucked my fingers too. I tightened my thighs together as his tongue danced over the pad of my fingers. My chest heaved and Osirus immediately looked at my breasts. I wanted to take him behind a tree somewhere, but unfortunately there were too many people, and they would know what we were doing.
