“Do they know Tulip helped?” Juliet shook her head no.

We made a small camp by the lake. The information that Juliet was about to speak of piqued everyone’s interest. This would be the first time we had spoken to anyone on the other side of the Blood Coven besides Tulip, and since we left this morning, we had heard nothing.

“They are evil, evil, I tell you.” Juliet sniffed. “They have captured several races and have taken their blood. They are trying to strengthen their powers. Each witch has their specific ability, just like fae do, or so I’m told. Some can summon fire, Bergarian soil, and weather, but only in small increments. They want to combine the strongest witches and take over the Supernatural Council so they can be the ultimate deliberators on the humans on Earth.”

Juliet shivered as I put my cloak around her. “They captured my family, and they knew our family, once aged to be two hundred, could see the future. They originally wanted the Queen of the Cerulean Moon Kingdom, but she is unobtainable with Kane being her daughter’s mate. She’s too protected, so we were next. I haven’t hacked into my power yet, my blood wasn’t ripe, and my family was all older than me and couldn’t be controlled, so they…” Juliet’s breath hitched, and she buried her face in her hands. As she sobbed, I looked at the others with a look of disdain, and we were going to have a difficult time. Even if Daphne decided against going after Osirus and the throne, the Blood Coven would still try to take over.

I pulled Juliet from her seat on the log and put her in my lap. This may be too soon, but I knew the bond would comfort her. Juliet immediately stopped crying and held onto me. “My little rose, how long have you been there?”

Juliet sniffed again. “Eight years. I’m thirty now, and they were trying to invoke my power to wake up sooner. I wanted to die. I thought about it so often. The poking, the prodding, they did. Barely enough blood, just enough to keep me alive.” She hiccuped again, and the warriors, along with Nyx, stood up to give us privacy.

“Are you hungry now, my rose?” Juliet paused but shook her head ‘no’ as I pulled her from my neck. All I cared about was her and her safety, and now, looking at her, I could see the strenuous life she had led before me. Even with her beautiful curves, she was meant for more meat around those delicious thighs. Her ashen body would glow as soon as she ate; in fact, she would heal so much faster.

“Please don’t lie, not now,” I whispered to her, concerned. She sniffed. I knew vampires could eat solid food, but from the looks of her, she needed blood. Thank the Gods for the cultural classes we had to take in primary. Otherwise, I would have been lost here. “I want you to drink from me,” I pressed.

“No! I can’t!” Juliet spoke, startled. “It has been too long since I’ve eaten, and I don’t know if I can stop.” I laughed at her as she tried to stand up. Holding her close, I pushed back some of her raven hair.

“My little rose, you can’t hurt me. I regenerate too quickly. Besides, I’m your mate. You are supposed to drink from me, always.” The hesitant look in her eyes got her thinking before she whispered in agreement.

Juliet pulled up my arm near my wrist before I pulled back. “What are you doing?”

“Drinking?” She blushed as she looked back down.

Pulling her head back up to me, I asked, “Why there? Why not my neck?” She gripped my tunic in frustration, and I chuckled at her.

“I have never drunk from there before.” Drinking from one’s neck was very intimate, and I knew that, but I wanted to tease her. I wanted her to do it most of all. It wouldn’t be a marking bite, but a feeding bite, which were two completely different things. I prayed she would mark me soon so I could mark her.

“Can you?” I pressed. “I’ve looked for you so long, my rose. It would please me if you would.” Juliet smiled as she bit her bottom lip.

“Only if you are comfortable.” A mischievous smirk graced her lips as she leaned in. Meeting her halfway, I gave her a light kiss. For vampires being known as cold creatures, she felt the complete opposite. It was warm, and her lips tasted of bright cherries, the same color as her lips. I felt myself purr as she broke away and kissed down my cheek to my neck. She began lightly sucking on my shoulder as I moved my head and felt her sharp fangs tickle me.

In one swift bite, her teeth sunk into my skin, the warmth of her lips soothed the calm flow of blood escaping my body. I gripped her tighter, and she did the same. Our bodies melted together as the slight growl of a purr escaped her throat. She was rocking me into a comforting state as she continued.

Chapter Fifty-Eight

Melina

Afterthreeroundsofmorning fornication, yes, three, we finally arose from the dark duvet of our bed by mid-morning. I could feel the warmth of the air infiltrate the hut as we heard people milling about outside. Osirus was continuing to pepper kisses on my bare back as I hummed in fulfillment.

“Could we just stay here?” I mumbled into the pillow. “No one bothers us here.” I felt Osirus’s smirk on my back as he reached the nape of my neck.

“I wish we could, darling, but we have much to do in very little time.” Osirus stripped the duvet from over my body, leaving me bare and the cold air of the blankets rushing by hit my skin, and I tried to curl up in the fetal position. Osirus pulled me from the bed, over his shoulder, and pulled me into the shower. The warm shower eased my sore muscles. Osirus had definitely given me some yoga poses to work on for the next time he wanted a romp in the park, but for now, the warm water would have to ease my ailments.

After stepping outside and greeting Amora and Adam, we had to discuss a plan in regarding the witches and sorcerers. It was believed that Creed would have to step in and help, despite Adam’s reluctance. The leader of the tribe didn’t trust Creed or just didn’t like him. Creed had been nothing but hospitable to us, and Amora took a liking to him. The information that Amora graced me with only churned my stomach to think this was all a jealousy thing because he was not the firstborn of his mother and Creed could have had rightful leadership of the tribe. Their mother was the Alpha dragon and the last female born dragon, so her mate became her equal and both partook of the Alpha roles.

Once we convened and spoke over a few hours of a plan, the werewolves would come to help aid the dragons, even with the reluctance of some of the tribe members. Dragons were prideful and wanted to take care of their own but losing a mate or even a child was far more significant when they were gone protecting their territory. The King and Queen of the Cerulean Moon Kingdom were to come personally to help aid them while taking on the Blood Coven on our own.

The treaty that Osirus had signed when I had first arrived at the Crimson Shadows Pack proved to be beneficial to both kingdoms. One protected, while one fought, surely making their kingdoms almost incomparable in numbers and strong in defense and offense.

After a heartfelt goodbye to Amora and a stiff nod to Adam, we departed, and the Red Fury accompanied us all the same. Their jokes and jeers about how some women looked terrified of them gave them the best belly laughs. Many of them hadn’t seen fae let alone powerful warriors of their kind. They were both fascinated and terrified of their red beards and muscular bare chests.

As we began our flight back, I had an aching in my heart as I flew closer to the palace. My mind kept wandering to my father and how he was doing. He was reluctant to leave me with Osirus. He had not entirely accepted him being my mate, nor was he excited to let go of me after just finding me. The nudging in my chest only grew stronger as we landed at the front gates of the palace. Our bags were taken swiftly by some attendants as I looked around at some unfamiliar carriages.

“Whose are those?” I asked Finley as he took off his bag. Osirus had talked to one servant and left me to my devices.

“Those are spare carriages from the storage unit. I’m not sure why they are out?” Finley questioned as we approached. “Goddess,” Finley breathed as he opened the door. Looking inside, we saw several gaunt-looking fae; their eyes were lifeless, and their bodies looked weak. Nissa landed beside me, which startled me, but her hand came to my shoulder to comfort me.

“I’m sorry for sneaking up on you.” Nissa smiled sadly. “I hope you and Osirus don’t mind, but I brought those at the unmated house here to the palace. With the glorious celebration coming up and many unmated supernaturals to be here, I’m hoping they will find their mate. At least, maybe have a good time and find the light they need to carry on.”
