I gave a blush as I patted my mouth with the napkin. “Oh, it’s nothing.” Amora continued to press until I finally let my wings out, and the entire room went silent again. Many came forward to look closely at the colors that shimmered on the wings.
“Like a butterfly,” one murmured while others commented they look like a hummingbird’s wing. I started giggling, realizing what I was drinking was some strong alcohol but was sweet like candy.
Amora and I sat and talked while the boys continued to yell and scream at each other outside. They had gone at it for more than an hour as we talked about how we met our mates, concluding we were both head over heels for them. There were a few sentences saying we should go check on them but laughed some more and let them keep fighting. Laughing more at the silly things that Alpha says or do when it comes to their mates, to assert their dominance, I had almost forgotten about the one man that really reeked of male testosterone, Creed.
“Hey, Amora, who is Creed?” Amora stopped laughing and had a small smile at the mention of his name.
“He was my childhood friend, but he holds a sweet place in my heart. I am only telling you some of his story since you are the Queen and have the right to know.” Amora brushed her hair to the side and started to braid it as she continued. “He is Adam’s half brother. His mother was raped at an early age, and no one really knows who the father was. When Adam’s mother found her true mate and Adam’s father, he still accepted her because he loved her the way she was, with or without a child that wasn’t his.” I swooned internally with a man that would still accept a woman even though misfortune fell on her. There were too many times I had heard men not pursuing women due to having a child that wasn’t their own.
“Adam’s mother loved Creed, and when Adam came along, she loved them both equally, as did their father. Adam was still jealous of Creed, thinking he was just a monstrous creature once Creed first shifted. Creed was different and not fully dragon, but I still cared for him the same because he loved as his mother loved. Without discrimination and with passion.” Amora turned as she gave our plates to the servants next to us.
“Adam made Creed look like he was a monster after their parents died during a brawl with a neighboring tribe. Once Adam became Alpha, it took little convincing to turn the entire tribe’s back on Creed. He was always different, quiet, and brutally strong. Many feared him and feared he would want to take over the tribe even though he was not the firstborn son of Adam’s father. Everyone turned on him and called him a monster and a beast the way he would fight to defend our tribe. Creed was a true warrior.
“Creed left the tribe because Adam ultimately exiled him, but he is expected to fight their battles. Creed secretly protected the women and children on the outskirts of our territory.” Part of me wanted to question why Adam was so cruel to his brother, but I kept silent. How could Amora love a man who could be so cruel to his own half brother? The bond and love could make one so blind. I wasn’t that way, was I?
Creed sounded like an outstanding person, even though he was treated harshly. Creed’s story pulled at my heartstrings. I hoped he could find a mate.
“You know the worst part?” Amora spoke quietly. “They say he can’t have a mate because he was conceived without a bond and through force.” I gasped loudly. My heart just crumbled to pieces.
“Surely not. There has to be—”
Amora shook her head. “It’s what the elders say…” She trailed off while I grabbed her hands. She had a close relationship with Creed, which made me wonder if they were once together. A little tear was wiped away as she sniffed.
“He was like a brother to me,” she whispered. “Sorry, one of my gifts is light mind-reading, and you are really loud.” I giggled, the alcohol finally hitting my system.
“Um, can Creed be persuaded with a siren song?” I asked curiously. Please say it worked, so I didn’t embarrass myself. Amora laughed and shook her head no.
“Sirens have no power on a dragon. A dragon’s magical abilities are too strong.” I groaned and put my head on the table.
Amora gasped while laughing, “What did you do?!” A squeal was heard from her as tears leaked from her eyes. The alcohol must have hit her too because we were both laughing loudly.
“I sang to the tune of ‘Wheels on the Bus.’ I thought about what a bus looked like and hummed the song in my head.” Amora spit out a bit of wine from her mouth, “And I commanded him to take us here!” I fell onto the cushion dramatically. Amora crawled to me on the other side of the table, and we both held onto each other in laughter.
A few throats were clearing as we both looked up from the floor at our mates, Adam, and Osirus, with amused smirks on their faces. “Are you both done measuring your dicks now?” Amora laughed while I snorted out a giggle again.
“Oh, I can tell you how big Osirus’s is. It is this…” I held up both my hands to show Amora, but Osirus picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.
“That’s enough wine for you, darling.” He smacked my butt harshly.
“Again, Daddy!” I squealed, and Amora laughed harder while trying to catch her breath.
“Adam! They have the same kinks we do! I enjoy calling him Master!” Adam turned a bright red and pulled up Amora and whispered in her ear as she blushed profusely. Adam must be shy.
“We will take you to your sleeping quarters and talk more in the morning before you leave,” Adam spoke with authority. I groaned as we walked out, not liking the swaying I was currently experiencing upside down. Understanding my predicament, Osirus set me down and kissed me on the side of my head.
“Thank you, my love!” I pulled him in for a quick peck while he gave me a smirk.
We were led outside to the main courtyard and sent to a small hut in the woods, away from most of the other dragons for privacy. Amora kept explaining to Adam how we were still in our “honeymoon stage” and “no one needed to hear that.”
Again, the hut looked small on the outside, but the inside was magnificent. It was just a large bedroom with a small kitchen nook in the corner, enough to make coffee or tea, and had a few things in a miniature fridge such as custard cakes and drinks. The bed was a large king with a deep red comforter with black sheets. The entire place was carpeted and had a warm feeling as opposed to the cold lurking in the tribe tonight.
“We will leave you to it then.” Adam gave a solid handshake to Osirus, who nodded in agreement. Once the large door was shut to the hut, Osirus turned around and bit his bottom lip while smiling, which I found extremely sexy.
“Now, darling, we need to talk.”
