“Yes, Your Excellency. I’ve waited over eight hundred years for my mate, and I would wait eight hundred more.” I took Melina’s hand and kissed it as she looked dreamily up at me.

“That’s what I want to hear.” He nodded as he held onto his trident. No doubt it was handed down by Poseidon himself. “Just finding out about my daughter and having to give her to her mate is quite”—he paused—“difficult. I hope you understand my reluctance to send her to you.” I nodded, agreeing.

“And that is why I want to invite you and your family to stay for the celebration of a reformed Golden Light Kingdom,” I spoke proudly while holding Melina close to me. Her smile let me know how proud she was. “We will up the party to tonight. I know you cannot be out of the water too long.”

“We would appreciate that. We can stay for one sunrise and sunset and our bodies cannot stand too much of the light sources. Leaving tomorrow at dawn would keep my people safe.” Melina let go of me to give her father a quick embrace.

“Thank you for not being mean,” she whispered to him, but we all heard and laughed. The men behind her father glared at me. They were all well-built men with blue and green hair. Their scales were missing, so they must have been in more of a human-like form. Melina skipped to Lucca and pulled him forward. “Let me introduce you properly. This is Lucca, my half brother.”

Melina beamed at him while he wrapped his arms around her. “You will be just as my full-blooded sister, Melina.” All her brothers nodded in agreement as she pulled them out all one by one. “This is Thalamere, Aqualis, Echoete, Jonas, Jarl, Tore, Gudmund, Eirik, Kaare, Atle, Ivar and Hugo!”

There is no way I will remember that.

“Welcome, if you have mates, please bring them tonight and if you don’t have mates, well, I’m sure there are some willing fae and fairies ready to have a good time.” Several laughed and smirked with each other while others went to go grab their mates.

“Darling let’s get you cleaned up and in more appropriate attire,” I growled playfully. “I don’t like unmated males seeing this much skin on you.” She giggled and gave me a quick peck on the cheek.

“Eh, Osirus,” Girard spoke up and walked toward me. “I don’t want to see any hickeys on my daughter while I’m here, do you understand?” His fangs grew until they were protruding out of his mouth. I wanted to laugh and show him some real fangs, but I relented.

“Of course not, sir,” I smiled. Melina’s face looked on in horror at her father, who ruffled her hair.

Her entire family took up the north wing of the castle meant for visiting royalty. Alpha Kane and Luna Clara gave their well wishes and headed back to their own territory but leaving most of their warriors for them to celebrate. Clara didn’t enjoy leaving her newborn Evelyn for too long, not that I blamed her.

Tulip came rushing up to Melina after her father departed and squeezed her tightly and moved her neck back and forth. Melina continued to push her away and blush, but Tulip was not having anything to do with it.

“You haven’t mated yet?” she hissed. “You need to give up the V-card already! Damn girl, you are also a lost princess. Who would have thought? That makes mating so much easier, doesn’t it? You have supernatural blood in you, you won’t be out for days!”

Tulip was right, she wouldn’t be out for too many days. A smirk played on my face with the new information. She was half-siren but with royal blood that could protect her from any injury while the bonding occurred.

“Shh, we thought I would be out for a while, and with the war, he didn’t want me helpless while I slept. Now that we know and everyone leaves, I’ll be more open to it.”

Damn, she’s going to make me wait.

“Do it tonight after the party!” Tulip whined. Melina shook her head.

“I can’t do it while my dad is here. That is just weird.” She made a face. “Plus, he has to take me out on a date first.”

“You are so damn stubborn.” Tulip rolled her eyes as she walked back to her mate.

“You are right. I do owe you a date.” I grabbed her hand and placed a chaste kiss.

“You do, and do it right.” She playfully jabbed me in the waist. “I want to know more of you now that you know me.”

She was right. I’d met her family and had yet to tell her about my own. So a game of twenty questions and then some fun might be in order. I’d plan the perfect date for her, but tonight we were going to a party, and when a fae parties, it’s unlike any other.

Chapter Thirty-Seven

Melina

Afterhavingasmalldinner in our rooms, Osirus had Primrose come in and help me get ready for the big celebration. It wasn’t one of those stuffy parties where you must wear an elegant gown and have your hair done just so. This was going to be an out-of-control party where the PDA would be undeniable, and the booze would be flowing. Hips grinding against pelvises and a lot of drunken one-night stands.

I was excited because I had never associated myself with any sort of party. Tulip and the rest of her pack would have their mate gatherings so they could find their mates, but I never went. It wasn’t my scene, and I never had any one to go with, but now I did. He was the host, and that meant I got all the perks.

While getting dressed, Primrose had the displeasure of telling me what happened to Peoni. Shocked was an understatement. I thought she was my friend and a true rebel for Osirus’s new plans for the kingdom. Didn’t she want equal rights? Once it was found out her mate was involved, that put a whole new spin on things. My body slumped in the chair. Hearing that her mate was held captive. Osirus hadn’t disclosed who her mate really was, just that he was behind bars and has kept them separate until he knows what to do with them. I believe a just and fair trial against her peers would be most appropriate instead of him making all the decisions. This was her mate she was trying to protect. I would have done the same.

Even in Primrose’s sad state, she kept a radiant face for me, brushing and curling my hair while she told me how excited she was for me finding my family. My brothers, two or three at a time, visited me and Osirus in our living quarters. Poor Osirus didn’t get any time alone with me and he was certainly restraining himself several times when we would get intimate.

My theory was that my brothers were standing outside the door, trying to listen to what was happening. On just the first day of knowing them, they became so protective. They were utterly confused when Dad called them into the throne room. Only four of them had found their mates; the rest were currently mateless. Some were worried that their father was going to make the same mistake as he did with their mother, take me on as a chosen mate, or force one of them to marry me.
