A chuckle left me. “I assure you, I do not do hanky panky. Fuck your sister senseless—of course.”

She smiled and playfully slapped my arm. “Stop that! There are kids here.”

“If you have sensitive ears here, then maybe you shouldn’t be bringing up hanky panky.”

Meadow looked up at the ceiling. “I cannot believe I’m having this conversation with you.” Her head moved back down. “Seriously, though… Don’t hurt her. You will have a family of Fallons that will dismember you and feed you to the pigs.”

Another chuckle left me. “To the pigs, huh?” My brow raised questioningly. It was a very astute statement considering pigs ate everything and left no evidence behind.

“I watch true crime like my sister. We know how to hide a body.”

“Your sister watches true crime?”

“Since you don’t know that yet, I’m sure I have nothing to worry about.”

I placed my hand on her shoulder, and she stilled. “Love your sister. I fuck up, I want you to feed me to the pigs. We’re on the same page.”

“As long as you know where we stand.” She then stepped out of the way. “I look forward to my trip to the pigs!”

A huge smile lit my face as I made my way to Indie. She was molding cake, and I couldn’t exactly tell what she was trying to make.

“A whale?” I asked, and Indie jumped, the knife in her hand flying up, but I caught it quickly.

“Why in the hell are you scaring the shit out of me?” she retorted, standing from the stool and putting a hand on her hip. I set the knife down on the stainless-steel table.

While her stance was cute, I really needed my arms around her. She was stiff for a few seconds, then the breath went out of her, and she followed suit.

“Sorry, Indie. Didn’t mean to scare ya,” I whispered in her hair.

She really deflated then. Only then did I feel the tension fall from me. I needed this woman like a drug. Like air. She was everything.

“Are you okay?” she asked, pulling back just a bit, but we were still very close.

“Why do you ask that?”

“Just seemed to have tension in your body until you wrapped your arms around me.”

Loved how she knew me. “Long night. Talked to Lexi and her husband.” It was her turn to tighten. “No, Indie. It’s okay. We have all their electronic shit and all copies of what Lexi had. She was bluffing about putting it on social media. She’s just a bitch, and her husband was not happy with her.”

“Oh…”

I leaned down and brushed my lips against hers. “Told you I’ll do anything to protect you.”

Her eyes glistened. She closed them and burrowed into my chest. Fuck, this was the best feeling in the world.

I loved this woman.

INDIE

“What? Where?”I asked Ax as he held my hand and pulled me to his bike.

“Don’t ask so many questions, Indie. You’ll ruin the fun.”

I rolled my eyes. “I’m always going to ask questions, Ax. That’s me.”

He grabbed the extra helmet from his bike and put it on my head, strapping it down. “You do know I can put on my own helmet right?”
