She hustled to her husband and pulled out two flash drives, handing them to John. He looked down at his hand. “Two fucking copies. So now we’re up to five. I swear, woman. You’d better tell me where every one of these are.”
“That’s all in the safe.”
“Get your laptop, computer, phone and tablet.”
Her eyes widened. “My phone.”
John snapped. “Yeah, your fucking phone! They need to wipe all the shit to their satisfaction. We might get it back. We might not. Fuck if I know. We’ll get new shit if we have to.”
Had to admit, I respected this man. He knew what we would be doing with all this information. Most of the time we’d have to beat the shit out of people before they talked. This was a serious change of pace.
“We need usernames and passwords,” Micah said, coming into the room. “It’ll make it easier. But know I’ll be able to hack it without those. Just saves us time.”
“I’ll write mine down,” John said, then looked at his wife. “You too.”
Tears rolled down the woman’s face. Personally, I didn’t give a shit. She made her bed.
What I did give a shit about was not being able to punch someone and get my frustrations out since John was being very open about it. Had to give credit where credit was due.
It just proved how much pull the Ravage MC had in Sumner, Georgia. Even the mayor knew the consequences.
“We’ll see about returning your shit. But don’t hold your breath,” Deke came in, saying with a shrug. “Usually don’t do that shit.”
“Usually,” I replied. “It’ll be up to Cruz.”
John nodded and tossed his phone to the top of the desk as well. “That’s a city-issued phone.” He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a second phone, then tossed it next to the other. “That’s my personal.” He then leaned down and wrote some things down.
Deke held out his hand and took the paper.
“Keep your bitch in line,” Deke growled, grabbed the shit he could carry, and left the house.
“Write down all the clouds you have as well,” Micah threw in, looking at Lexi. “And don’t fuckin’ tell me you don’t have them because I’ll track them through your IP address. I don’t give a fuck if you have a VPN because I’ll still find it.”
Lexi went white as a sheet then hurried to the desk like her ass was on fire, and grabbed a pen and paper, writing it down.
After all this was done and all of Lexi and her children’s electronics were taken, I held my hand out to John. It was unexpected to him by the shocked look on his face that he covered quickly, but he held his out as well, and I shook it. “Thanks for makin’ this shit easier than spillin’ blood.”
“Sorry about it. Had no fucking clue she had it. I’ll find out what else she has on this other drive. If it’s anything to do with the club, which it better not be, you’ll be the first to know.”
“No offense, but we’ll find it sooner than she’ll tell ya,” Raid said.
“We’ll be in touch.”
Leaving the house and moving to our bikes, Raid stopped me. “You think he’s hidin’ anything?”
“About us. No. About other shit, sure. Who doesn’t have secrets? But he’s a man who knows the position he’s in and our position. He also knows he’ll be dead alongside his wife. He’s not a stupid man.”
“Right. Headin’ to the clubhouse. You?”
“Bakery.”
Raid held out his fist, and I bumped it with mine.
Driving off, I headed to the bakery.
Parking in the lot, I entered the bakery, and the sweet smell of vanilla hit me and I inhaled deep. Indie wasn’t at the front counter, and I shifted my gaze to the cake area, and there she was with her back to me.
Meadow was at the counter as I made my way to it, to go around and get to Indie. She held her hand up. “Hang on there, big guy,” she said, and I stopped and looked at the woman. “No cake flying and no hanky panky.”
