“Mazie called her.”
I was going to strangle my niece.
“Rah told me. I told them, and we’re here to find out why you were running out of a building at the clubhouse with Ax on your heels and Princess stepping in to let you leave.”
“You need a life,” I grumbled.
“Oh I have one, but yours was a bit juicy this morning.”
I looked over at Ax who had a wide grin on his face. “Shut up,” I growled at him, making him smile wider.
I wasn’t going to get far with this crowd.
“I knew I should’ve dropped her cake,” I told the room, and everyone burst out laughing. Mazie. I didn’t even put two and two together on that one.
Rah, as we called her, went to the same school as Mazie. But I didn’t think they were close enough to call each other and gossip. Never crossed my mind. Rah never talked about Mazie, and I knew she wasn’t on the volleyball team with her because I’d been to the games.
What a small town this place was.
“The cake was pretty cool too,” Meadow stated.
“It was. I have a picture on my phone.” Saying that brought up the thoughts of those two men coming toward me, and I felt myself shiver. A strong body was at my back arms, going around me tight. I looked up to see Ax, knowing he protected me last night, but how long would that last? When would the time limit be up?
“They won’t touch you.”
“How did you know what I was thinking?” I asked.
“It’s my superpower,” he said on a grin.
My eyes rolled as I turned back to my family who were all staring at me.
“So, this is a real thing then?”
“No,” I answered just as Ax replied, “Yes.”
“Well, this is gonna be fun,” Mom said, moving to the counter to help GramO with the groceries.
“You good?” Ax asked into my hair then kissed the top of my head.
“Yeah. I’m good.”
When he released me, a coldness filled me that I tried to shake off. Seeing him going over and helping Mom and GramO … that warmed me right back up.
“Tell me what the hell he’s talking about? Who hurt you?” Luna said, slamming her purse, or should I say bag, down on the countertop.
“Yeah. Spill,” Meadow said.
“Can I at least have coffee first?”
“No,” they both returned in unison.
“I'll get it,” Ax said, going to the coffeemaker and getting it started. Who was this man? Cooking? Coffee? Kissing my family? Giving me confessions and the best orgasms of my life. I was a bit dumbfounded.
“Uh … thanks,” I responded, seeing his smirk from his side profile. He was eating this shit up.
“Anything. Told you that.”
A gleam came to both my sisters’ eyes, and I narrowed mine. “Not a word,” I whispered under my breath.
