Page 66 of Kissed By Her

“Yes, maybe all your seduction tactics bounced off Mark and hit me instead. Good job.”

Honor snorted and shook her head. “I should have aimed better.”

I stroked her open palm. “Oh, I think you aimed just fine.”

Honor did kissme when we went back to our cars.

“Have fun with those monsters,” she said.

“They absolutely can be monsters,” I said. “What would you have done if you really married Mark?”

She leaned against her car. “I hadn’t thought that far ahead.”

“That seems kind of important,” I said. “Look, I’m not trying to be a jerk, but those girls are really important to me.”

Honor met my eyes with her bright blue ones. “I know. The longer I think about my plans with Mark, the more I see how shallow and silly they were. My mother would be ashamed of me for not being more conniving.”

“Your goal should be to disappoint your mom from here on out. She’s the worst.” If I ever met this woman, I didn’t know what I would do. Probably end up in jail for fighting her.

“I’m beginning to see that,” she said, reaching out and tucking some of my hair behind my ear. “I don’t know how to do relationships. Or friends. Or being a regular person.”

“That’s okay. I can teach you about all of it. You’re a smart woman, you’ll figure it out. First lesson is stop trying to marry rich guys.”

She laughed and then nodded. “Okay, I think I can do that. What’s the second lesson?”

“Kiss me,” I said.

“That’s the second lesson?” Honor said, squinting at me.

“Yes, come here.” I put my fingers under her chin and drew her face down to mine.

Honor kissed me until I was buzzing with the feel of her mouth on mine and the taste of chocolate on her tongue.

“I like the second lesson,” she said when she leaned back.

“Me too,” I said. “Fuck, I wish I could stay here kissing you all day, but I have to go.”

“I understand.” Honor kissed me one more time.

“You’re probably going to get a shit ton of messages from me tonight, so I’m sorry in advance. Supervising sleepovers tests my patience sometimes.”

Honor shuddered at the thought.

We finally parted and got in our separate vehicles and I drove back to the house, the memory of Honor’s kiss still on my lips.

Fortunately for me,the girls just wanted to play in the pool and watch movies and eat a ton of junk food, which I was happy to supply.

My supervision extended to mostly making sure they didn’t drown or disappear as a group in the bathroom to conjure a ghost or something.

“You seem happy today,” Mark said as he sat down beside me with a plate of food. Instead of ordering pizza, he’d thrown a bunch of burgers and hotdogs and corn on the grill to make everyone happy. One of the twin’s friends was vegan, so he’d also grilled a vegan patty and hot dog for her. Tomorrow morning, I was cooking up a vegan veggie egg scramble and vegan bacon for everyone.

“Do I?” I asked.

“You do,” he said, and I wanted to hide my face.
