Page 9 of A Reason to Stay

“I wanted to make some friends who I could trust… who would be real friends to me. Not dumbasses who wanted to be in the ‘in-crowd,’ you know?”

“College is just as cliquey as high school, is that what you’re saying?”

“Yeah. My professors are pretty cool, though. Classes are much better and totally different. Less drama. But I’m wondering if I’m the weird one, because all my peers are idiots.”

“You find that everywhere, Sugar.”

“I just want…” I sighed and let my sentence go. Why was I even saying any of this? Drew didn’t care about my drama.

“What do you want, Sugar?”

I hesitated for a few moments.

“Don’t make me drag it out of you,” he warned. I glanced down. His cock was hardening.Again.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “How, Andrew?How?”

“Your pussy tastes like honey. That’s how. Now tell me what you want, or I’m going to edge you and not let you finish.”

“If I tell you, will you make me finish?” I looked up at him.

He sat up and rolled another condom on.I think we’ve gone through a whole box of those.

Pulling me up and into his lap, he guided me onto him. I let out a gasp. I was sore, and wasn’t going to walk straight for a week after this. But I took a deep breath and tried to relax, locking my ankles together behind his back.

He didn’t move or thrust. He held me close and tilted my chin up, looking me in the eye. The light coming through the window cast a shadow on his sharp cheekbones and chiseled lips. His dark eyes glittered.

“If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?”

“Freedom,” I answered softly. “That’s all I want.”

“Do you not have it?”

“I want to make my own choices. I want to be respected by my peers. I don’t want to be told what I can and can’t do by people who want to use me and control me.”

“Your folks,” he guessed.

I nodded. Then I shrugged. Suddenly I didn’t feel sexy at all. A hint of frustration, sadness, and a little bit of irritation welled up in my chest.

“Spit it out.”

My voice rose as I spoke. “My dad constantly tells me what I can and can’t do. He made me choose biology as my major, but I switched to communications my first day of classes. He waslividwhen he found out. He threatened to cut me off, but I called his bluff. I told him it was my life, and he couldn’t force me, and then I sent him a printout of all the jobs I could get with a communications degree. He dropped it, but he never apologized. And I don’t think he’ll ever really respect that I’m an adult and can make my own choices!”

Andrew smirked.

“What?”

“You’re sexy when you’re mad.”

I rolled my eyes. “You’re only saying that because you’re bottomed out inside me.”

He gripped my hips hard enough for my eyes to widen, and pulled me hard against him, giving me a hard thrust as he did so.

“It is your life, Maria.”

Another deep thrust. I gasped.

“Your dad can’t control you.”
