GriffinkissesEmilylikeshe’s going off to war and not like we won’t be forty-five minutes away and that we will call as soon as she shows any signs of going into heat.

The man is dramatic.

I’ve gotten used to his dry brand of humor and his general need to make everything a far bigger deal than it needs to be. Frankly, I like him, but I won’t say it out loud. The thing I like the most about him, however, is his devotion to our Omega. So, while we might butt heads from time to time, it’s all in fun. There’s no longer any animosity like there may have been in the beginning.

Dion holds Binx, and Emily kisses his head. Meanwhile, Dion kisses Emily’s forehead before giving her a tender kiss on the lips. “Let us know when you get there safe, please,” he says.

“Love you,” she says to both of her bonded. Fuck, I can’t wait to be her bonded. I squeeze Freddie’s hand lightly, knowing that he is just as anxious and excited as I am.

The Alphas express their undying love and give yet another reminder to call even though they plan to come tomorrow anyway. Like I said, drama queens.

“Ready to go, darling?” Freddie asks Emily. She gives us a beaming smile and nods her head. I don’t know how the fuck we got so lucky to tumble into an elevator with this tiny, beautiful creature, but I’m thankful every day.

She’s perfect. Her kindness is limitless, her love is effortless, and she is single-handedly one of the most selfless people I have ever met. I’ve made it my job to protect her heart and make sure that nothing ever takes that sweetness from her.

Emily gets carsick, so Freddie happily gives her the front seat, opening the door for her as he gets in the back.

I get in the driver’s seat and drive off without a backward glance as Emily waves goodbye out the window. She sighs audibly and rests her head on the headrest. Automatically, my hand is on her thigh, giving her a gentle squeeze.

“You good, princess?”

She smiles at me and nods her head. “Yeah, I’m just excited.”

“Us too,” I reassure her. Both more excited and nervous than I care to admit. Freddie and I had nearly almost given up looking for an Omega before we found Emily. We’re going to bond the Omega of our dreams. It doesn’t even seem real.

Some fat snowflakes hit the windshield, and I put the wipers on, thankful it didn’t start snowing before we left. “Griffin probably would have dragged all of our asses back into the house if he saw a single snowflake,” I say jokingly.

Emily gives me a smirk but doesn’t comment. She shivers and I put her seat warmers on and turn up the heat.

“Cold?” I ask her.

“A bit. I know I’ve lived here a while now, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the winters.”

“Beats the weather in Manchester,” Freddie says from the back. Emily spins in her seat and smiles at him.

“Did your mom say when we could come for a visit?” I roll my eyes, knowing that neither of them is looking at me. While Freddie’s mom is nice, she’s quite insufferable on a good day. The woman doesn’t know how to keep out of anyone’s business. We didn’t tell her about Emily until we knew for sure we would be bonding.

“She was thinking about the Easter holiday,” Freddie says. I can hear the conflict in his voice. But Emily is obsessed with family, and meeting her is a big deal.

“I don’t think I would want to travel if I’m pregnant, though,” Emily says. It makes me squeeze her thigh tighter. The idea of her pregnant with my kid gets me fucking going. Any time she talks about the future has me nearly ready to go on the spot.

“Darling, you’ve got to stop torturing poor Kenji. He’s going to blow his load and drive us off into a snowdrift.”

I give Freddie a shitty look in the rearview, which he just laughs off.

“Of course, love. Mum isn’t big on travel, but I’m sure she’d be willing to wait to meet her first grandchild.”

I can scent Emily as soon as Freddie finishes his sentence. She bounces in her seat slightly and turns and faces the front. A slight shiver still taking her over.

“Emily, are you sure you’re feeling all right?” She nods her head. I would be worried about her heat if she was feeling feverish, but it is cold outside. “Freddie, can you grab that blanket from the trunk?” He does so without question, handing it over to our Omega, who presses the soft material against her face.

It has all of our scents on it and I can feel her relaxing as she cozies up to the warmth.

“Better?”

“Much,” she says, squeezing my hand on her thigh. “I can’t wait to see what you’ve done with the house,” she says.

I grin, and not even being able to see Freddie, I know he is too. “We think you’ll be quite pleased,” Freddie says, lightly squeezing the back of her neck, making her hum in approval.
