With a smile, she nodded and dug in.
“Good,” he murmured into her ear. “Later we’re going to have a talk about doing as Daddy says.”
He patted her bottom as he moved past. It tingled and happiness flooded through, pushing away her worries about Charlene and Honey.

Later on that evening,as she was lying in bed after Zander had eaten her out until she screamed and begged then fucked her into oblivion, she suddenly realized she hadn’t fed Joseph Herbert.
She sat up, wincing slightly. Her butt was still sore from the roasting he’d given it earlier that day.
“Where are you going, baby girl?” Zander reached out a hand to stop her.
“I forgot to feed Joseph Herbert,” she explained, putting Squeaks down on the bed. She’d thought that Zander might feel weird about him sleeping in the bed with them at night, but he didn’t even blink.
“Be quick, then back into bed. It’s time for sleep.”
Sheesh. This early bedtime thing was killing her. Sometimes Zander put her to bed and then waited until she was asleep before going back to work. She knew that, because she’d woken up the other night to find him gone and had nearly freaked out.
She’d ended up calling him on his phone. He’d raced back and held her tight until she’d fallen asleep. Now, if he still had to work, he did it at the table in her room.
Getting up, she grabbed a small piece of cheese and put it in Joseph Herbert’s cage.
“Unless I should just give the cheese straight to you, Daddy,” she teased.
“Why would you do that?” he asked, without looking up from his tablet. “It’s for Joseph Herbert.”
“I know you eat it, Daddy.”
Glancing up, he gave her a serious look. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Uh-huh, sure he didn’t. But she’d play along. With a shake of her head, she moved to the bathroom. “Gotta pee.”
“I told you to go before you got into bed.”
“I didn’t need to pee then.”
Sheesh.
What was he? The pee police?
As she was cleaning her hands after, she stared into the mirror. And was shocked by the woman who looked back at her. This woman looked healthy. She didn’t look sickly and exhausted. The only mark on her was the one that Zander had given her just before, on the other side of her neck. And that one she wore with pride. Although he kept saying something about finding a better way to claim her.
She liked being here. The others were getting friendlier. Well, Honey still didn’t trust or like her, but she wasn’t being a bitch either. Ammo mostly didn’t talk, but Webb said that was normal. Eli was starting to like her . . . maybe. Webb and Miles were her favorite. When she wasn’t with Zander, she was with one of them. Miles was even teaching her how to code. It wasn’t something she thought she’d like, but she found she was quite good at it.
And she’d been working, quietly, on her writing skills. It wasn’t that she couldn’t write. It was just that the negative voices got to her when she picked up a pen. Same when she tried to do the driver’s test online and got frustrated because she didn’t get it all right.
But she was slowly coming to terms with the fact that it was okay not to be able to do everything. That everyone had weaknesses.
Zander walked into the bathroom and moved up behind her. He placed his hands on the counter and looked at her through the mirror.
“Hey, what if I’d still been on the toilet?”
“I was worried that you were. Was going to see if you needed something for constipation.”
Lord. Help. Her.
“I’m not constipated. And if I was, I wouldn’t tell you!”
