“Boone and Cody went to dinner with Cash and Brock. Cody has a hilarious story about girls fighting. I almost don’t want to tell it because it won’t be nearly as funny.”

“Let’s FaceTime Cody then.”

She immediately does and soon Cody’s adorable face fills the screen. “Auntie Corbin! Auntie Naomi! Where have youbeen?”

“We’re on a little girls’ vacation.”

He juts out his lower lip. “I wanna go on a girls’ vacation.”

“You just asked us last night to take you on a guys’ trip to see a Volunteers game!” Boone shouts from the background.

Cody turns to look at his dad. “Yeah, but that’s different.”

Boone chuckles and gets in the screen with his boy. “Hey, ladies. Having a good time?”

“Definitely. We’re out to dinner now.”

“Oh, yeah?”

Our server brings our beers at that moment and we thank him before he tells us our appetizers will be out shortly.

“And having a few drinks, too, huh? Looks good.”

I take my first sip and roll my eyes back in my head. “It is. Paisley recommended this place and helped us pick out our drinks.”

“Who’s Paisley?”

Corbin turns the camera so it’s right on Paisley. She gives a shy wave. “I’m Paisley.”

“Hi, gorgeous,” Boone says to her.

“She’s pretty, Dad!”

“See? My boy’s got good taste. How’d you come to be suckered into going out with those two nerds?”

“Hey!” I shout. “I’m not a nerd!”

“Book nerd, sorry.”

“She’s a book nerd, too! She’s going to be a teacher soon.”

“Really? Gotta say, I don’t think I’d miss a day of class if you were my teacher.”

“Okay, Casanova. Enough of that,” Corbin jests, flipping the phone back so we can all be seen and see the boys.

“He’s trouble,” Paisley whispers to me.

“Oh, you have no idea.”

“That’s his boy?” she asks quietly when Corbin seems to be chatting with him.

“Yup. Long story, we’ll tell you later.”

Corbin tells Boone to step away so we can only see Cody and asks him for his story that he told to his uncles and dad last night.

It takes him fifteen minutes to get through. Our sides hurt from laughing and our appetizers that were delivered while we listened stay untouched because we’re too into the story to eat.

By the time he’s finished, Paisley has a real good idea of what it’ll be like for her to teach middle school and freshmen.
