Page 63 of Enticing the Fixer

“Yes, he does. Although….” She twists her arm to inspect the artwork. “He lied. He said it wouldn’t hurt, but it stung like a bitch.”

“It’ll get better.”

“But it didn’t hurt as much as Ann’s nipple rings did.”

“No piercings to surprise me?”

“No.” She shudders. “At least not yet. I don’t know that I can do that. Ever.” Her eyes twinkle. “So, were you erect when Maverick pierced y-”

My mouth slams over hers and effectively shuts her up. It’s bad enough that Maverick runs his mouth about it. I don’t need her chiming in.

She laughs past my lips, and I swipe my tongue deep into her mouth while pressing her against the wall. I’m not about to lose her. Whoever is setting her up is going down. They’re playing with pocket change at this point. Yes, Kinsley’s business is worth money on the open market, but I could buy it from under all of them without contacting a bank.

And I have friends who can uncover anyone’s secrets. If I had to guess, Truman likely knows who’s responsible already, but he’s waiting until we can prove it legally versus vigilante justice. Whether he knows or not, he’s putting her life in danger by not divulging his source.

I thread my fingers through her hair and stare into her eyes. They’re beautiful pools of tranquil waters, and all I see in them is my future. When did I fall in love with her? And why doesn’t that scare me?

Chapter Thirty

Later that Day

Kinsley

“Girl, come here.”

The second I walk into Callahan’s Bar, Sadie grabs my arm and drags me behind the bar. “The twins told me you have a new beau.” Sadie is the only girl in the sea of Callahan siblings and supervises the wait staff and cooks for the business. She’s feisty but sweet.

“Yes, I’m seeing someone.” I glance around the bar, looking for him. I’m supposed to see him here after his meeting with Truman. I was set to go with him when Valeria called.

Marge was in my office rubbing her hands together and pacing the floor. While Ethan wants to sell, Marge wants to hold out a little longer to see if we can salvage the business.

Thankfully, someone is on my side. Until she managed to knock my cup of pens into my coffee mug and doused my desk. It took all three of us to right the ship. Between that and my arm hurting from the tattoo, it’s been a long day.

Sadie smiles around her bottom lip and waggles her eyebrows. “Is he as dreamy as Ann said?”

“Yes, he’s good-looking, brilliant, and one of the most trustworthy people I’ve ever met. I couldn’t ask for someone to go bat for me any harder than he has.”

Her face sobers as concern etches her features. “With the board?”

“Yes. It’s still a mess. But for once, I believe things are going to work out. Maybe it’s crazy to believe in Leo, but I do. He’s the kind of guy who makes you feel like they’ve got everything under control.” I shrug. “I don’t know how, but he’ll fix everything.”

“That’s awesome. I’m so happy for you. I can’t wait to meet him.”

The front door opens, and Leo and his brother step inside shoulder to shoulder while deep in conversation. My heart skips a beat. He’s changed from business casual to jeans and a T-shirt. How does he get sexier every day? “That’s him.”

Sadie’s head swivels in his direction. “Oh, he’s hot. Well, they’re both hot. Which one is yours, and is the other one available?”

I chuckle as she fans herself. She’s not wrong. Leo’s brother might even be better looking than he is in a rugged, life has fucked me over kind of way. The kind of tortured soul that Sadie drools all over.

“The one on the right is Leo. His twin brother, Jagger, is on the left. And I don’t believe he’s seeing anyone. He’s a former Navy SEAL.”

“Damn.” She shudders as a waitress breezes by carrying a platter of mozzarella sticks. The scent of marinara fills my nose, making my mouth water. “My panties are already at my feet as we speak.” She tilts her head. “I’ve seen Jagger around here before. He hangs out with the guy who runs Truman Security.”

“Yeah, he works for him. Leo works for him as well.” As they dodge the crowd on their way to the bar, I study Leo.

What did he do before he started working for me? He doesn’t have fancy clothes or an expensive car, but he moves with power. A power that’s not found in the accounting department. Jagger doesn’t walk like that. He walks like he knows where everything is in the room without turning his head.

The brothers stop in front of the bartender and laugh at something the man says. August is Leo’s friend. So is Maverick. Why do they all exude big dick energy that trumps bartender, tattoo artist, and accountant? Were they in the military together?
