Who isn’t secretly married and looking to bang a random stranger.
And who isn’t intimidated that I’m the future CFO of a Fortune 500 Company.
While we’re at it, let’s make sure he’s decent to look at and treats me like a princess.
Is that too much to ask for? Apparently so. I grab the glass and drain half the contents, letting the maple and pineapple flavors coat my tongue.
The man who held the door open for me leans against the bar. His eyes never leave mine as he grabs himself and adjusts his crotch. I cringe. He did not just clutch his junk, did he?
He bites his bottom lip and cups himself again as his wife wraps her arms around his neck and grinds into him. How can she be oblivious to him rubbing himself while watching me? He runs his teeth over his bottom lip and continues to stare.
I flip him off and spin away. What is it with men and their need to conquer the entire female species?
“Who are you looking at?”
“A joker who’s practically jerking off while staring at me.”
“Oh….” Her eyes widen as she turns in her seat. “Which one?”
“The one with his wife draped over him. It would be one thing if he was half as attractive as he thinks, but he’s not. And… if he wasn’t doing it behind his wife’s back.”
“Jerk.” She shudders and spins back around in her seat. “I promise. There must be one more good guy in the world, and we’ll find him for you.”
I tip my head back and drain the remainder of my drink. The warmth from the rum travels from my belly outward to my fingers and toes. “I’d settle for a guy who’s single and not out on a date.”
“Let me look.” Her head swivels as she peruses the room.
When she stops, she lifts her hand off the table. “Do. Not. Point.” I glare at her.
“Fine,” she growls and rolls her eyes. “New guy. Three o’clock. Brown hair. Black-rimmed glasses. Good looking. Standing next to the military-looking guy I’ve seen around. I don’t know his name thought.”
I twist my head to the right and rotate slightly in my seat.
“Don’t make it obvious.”
“You were the one who was going to point,” I mutter between clenched teeth.
“Whatever.” She sighs, “But that was before I had a good look at him. Don’t make any sudden movements.”
“He’s not a wild animal.”Holy cow.My eyes widen. That man is hot.At least from thirty feet away and in a haze of smoke. He probably has a third nipple.I snort and wave to the waitress. There’s no way I’m lucky enough to make out with a guy that looks like him. Even with a third nipple, he’d be a solid 10 out of 10.
“You should ask him to dance.”
“No, thank you.” I glance back to the bar. Mr. I’ll Be Watching You has folded his arms over his chest with no significant other in sight.
Where did she go? I shift my attention to the dancefloor. She’s dancing with another man. So that’s what they’re into. Not me. I’ve already tried the sharing thing–without my consent, and I’m not doing it again.
“Buy the hottie a drink.”
“Ann, let it go.” I return my attention to her as the waitress brings us another drink. “I’ll get drunk and hang out with you. I don’t need a man.”
