Page 34 of Enticing the Fixer

“That’s what I thought you said. That good-looking guy at the bar works for you?”

“Yep,” I groan and tip my head back down. The ceiling doesn’t hold any answers. “He apparently also works for a security company and was hired to investigate me. By someone….” I shrug. “And I have no idea who it is.”

“The asshole.” Her hands ball into fists at her sides. “Where does he live? I’ll have the guys pay him a visit.” At one time, her father-in-law was a Vice President of the Raging Guardian’s MC, and his oldest son is still involved with the club.

“I don’t think that’s necessary.”

“Why not? He lied to you, and he’s trying to do some shady shit. How do you know this guy isn’t stealing from you?”

“Sean also lied to you.”

“We’re not talking about Sean. This guy may be a plant. You don’t know anything about him.”

My heart skips a beat as she says my fears aloud. I sit up straight. “Do you think so?”

She raises her hands into the air. “I don’t know. Let me call the guys and see what they think. Sean, Callen, and Kellen are downstairs.” She snatches her phone off the counter.

“Hey, Babe.” Her eyes go soft. Ann is so lucky. I would give anything to have a guy like Sean. He worships the ground she walks on. He does anything she asks, and he’s one hot-looking guy.

Moments later, the guys bound into the room, looking like a trio of strippers from a bridal party. Okay. They don’t look like they’re going to jump out of a cake and strip, but when you see them, you sure wish they would.

“What’s up, Babe?” Sean kisses Ann’s forehead.

“Kinsley.” Callen nods as Kellen waves. The twins are mirror images of each other.

“Kinsley hooked up with a guy Friday night.”

Oh, my God.I groan, “You didn’t have to start with that part of the story.” I’m not telling her about this afternoon. Friday night, I had excuses. I was drunk, he was gorgeous, and I didn’t know who he was.

Today? Today, I was sober, and I knew he worked for me. Not to mention, he’s five years younger than me. I thought that was my biggest problem, but now that’s low on the totem pole of issues.

His face and those hands. And his mouth. I shiver. He’s still gorgeous. That hasn’t changed. But that’s not an excuse for letting him…. Heat surges through me, and I launch off the sofa. “God, it’s hot in here.”

“That’s only part of the story.” She glares at me and relays the rest of my shitshow to them.

Sean’s jaw flexes. “Are you sure he didn’t know who you were on Friday night?”

My mind drifts to the night and all the delicious things we did. I’m not the best judge of character, but…. “No, I don’t think he did.”

“So, he’s working for a security service?” Sean continues with his interrogation.

“Yes, so he says.”

“And found a data breach?” Callen asks.

“Yes, that’s correct.”

Callen shoves his hands into his pockets at the same time Kellen does. It’s creepy. They don’t even look at each other when they do it.

Sean licks his lips and studies me. “And he told you what he found and blocked it?”

“Yes.” Do I know any other words?

“After he put in another one to monitor everything she does.” Ann tosses a strand of hair behind her shoulder.

“He told her that?” Kellen gawks at Ann.

“No.” She rolls her eyes. “I was improvising.”
