Page 51 of Chill’s Chance

Chill removes the poker and places it in the flames next to the others. She and Viper step in front of the whimpering men and wait, watching them suffer through the aftermath. Once they regain a semblance of control, Chill nods and lifts the syringe. “I’m ready to move to the next step, castration. If anyone deserves it, it’s you three. But earlier my brothers reminded me it isn’t just women who have to deal with the aftermath caused by assholes like you. Good men pay a price, too. They have overcome the fear and mistrust caused by cocksuckers like you three. So I’m going to let them take out some of their frustrations before we go for the grand finale. Boys.”

Grinning, each of the members takes their hits, most using their fists. Spock selects a pair of brass knuckles before whaling on each man until Patterson and Abbott have broken jaws and Billet has at least two broken ribs. When they finish, Chill looks at me. “You want a go?” She asks me and I nod. Picking up a hunting knife from the table, I turn to the three assholes who hurt my woman.

“You fuckers took what wasn’t yours to take.” I tell them. “You destroyed the career of a soldier who was better than you in every way while disgracing the uniform you wore. So wear this.” I shout at them as I mark each man with the letter R on their chest with the knife. “That’s for being rapists.” I tell them before adding the letter T. “That’s for being traitors.”

When I return the knife to the table, I lock eyes with Chill, who conveys with one look how much my words mean to her before she returns her attention to her last task. With Viper’s help, she injects the serum into the tip of each man’s penis before backing away to wait for it to take effect. It doesn’t take long. Soon, all three men are screaming, their bodies shaking with pain as the chemical eats away at the member they used as a weapon.

When the men hang limp, their labored breathing is the only sign of life. Chill picks up the knife I used and its match. She hands one to Viper. “What’s good enough for bastard fathers is good enough for these run-of-the-mill bastards.” Viper grins at her before they each slam their knives into each man’s chest. I frown at the locations they chose because the wounds aren’t lethal. Until I see blood and air bubble out of the wounds. They punctured the men’s lungs.

When the room goes silent, Splint steps up to each man and checks their pulses. “They’re dead. And can I just say, you two are fucking terrifying.” He says to Chill and Viper, who grin at him before bumping fists with each other.

“Let’s get this place cleaned up.” Puma orders.

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE: CHILL

While I usually leave the cleanup to prospects, I want to finish what I started, so I stay to watch the bodies burn to ash. As I watch, Hunter steps up behind me. His arms wrap around my waist as I lean back into him.

“So proud of you, baby.” He whispers, and I turn to smirk at him.

“You’re proud of how I tortured three men to death?” I ask him.

“Those weren’t men. They were scum and they deserved what they got.” He tells me. “Our justice system goes too easy on men who abuse women. If they all got the Chill and Viper treatment, we’d have fewer rapists.”

I chuckle at his conviction. Even if our courts went harder on rapists, and they couldn’t go any easier than they do now, men will still attack women. Too many men are weak-minded and view women as a threat.

“When we’re done here, we’re heading across the street to pick lots.” I tell him as I turn in his arms to look up at him. “Want to help me pick out a lot where we can build our home?”

He stares at me for so long that I squirm to move out of his arms, to put some distance between us, but holds me tight. “Don’t.” He says. “I just need a minute.”

“If you don’t want to, that’s fine. I don’t need…” I start, but he squeezes me to shut me up.

“When I met you, my world shifted. I saw in you my future. When I lost you, I thought I’d lost everything. You not only helped me find my son, but you gave me back a future that is even better than the one I imagined. Finding you, finding this club, it means everything to me. I promise you here and now that I will never give you a reason to regret giving me a second chance.”

I grin as he leans in to capture my mouth in a passionate kiss.

“Well, isn’t this romantic?” Asks Dice as we break apart. “I knew you were sick, Chill, but kissing in front of burning bodies?” He gives a shudder, making me laugh.

“What can I say? I’m a morbid girl.” I reply. “Any luck on your hunt?”

“Yes, and no.” He replies. “We found something disturbing.”

“What does that mean?” Hunter asks.

“Puma sent me to come get you. We need to have a quick meeting so I can tell you everything.”

“I’ll finish up here.” Hunter says as I turn to leave with Dice.

“I heard you and Viper make a vicious team.” Dice says as we head back to the clubhouse.

“We were on the same wavelength. She’s good.” I say. “How about you and Avery? Did you two work well together?”

He grins. “You could say that. She’s formidable, and that’s saying something since I know you and Viper. She’s tenacious and doesn’t take anyone’s shit. I like that in a woman.”

“How much do you like it?” I ask him.

“More than she likes me.” He admits. “I can’t get past her walls. She thinks I’m a playboy.”

“Aren’t you?” I ask him. I love Dice and all my brothers, but aside from Puma, none of them have even heard of the word monogamous, much less have a desire to practice it.
