I roll my neck and take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. This whole situation is making me feel uneasy. Something’s going on, and I don’t like it.At all.

“Well, good running into you. I’ll see you at home later in the week,” Nora yells as she tries to pull me away. I only follow her because I’m so lost in my thoughts, trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

“You better call him,” Killian warns, stopping me in my tracks. I go to turn, but Nora pulls my hand hard in the other direction.

“It’s almost the New Year, Declan. Please, let’s go back to our table.” If it weren’t for her pleading, I would be confronting this Killian arsehole. Only out of respect for her, I go with Nora—probably for the best.

We arrive at our table, she pushes me to sit in the chair, and before I can say a word, she straddles me and grabs my face with both hands.

“Listen to me. We are not ruining tonight, Declan. Do you hear me? I promise you.” She places her hand over my heart, over our tattoo. “Bennett is just a lad I’ve gotten close with over the years. I need you to forget him tonight, and I need you to be present with me at this moment. I want a New Year’s Eve Kiss in my parents’ special place, with nothing between us.” She leans down and kisses me softly, then pulls back.

“I can still see your wheels turning, Dec. Give me this now, and then you can angry fuck me later if you want.” She wiggles her eyebrows.

This girl and her filthy mouth.

I can’t resist her request, so I wrap my arms around her and pull her snugly to my chest. Letting whatever the hell that was go for now. I won’t drop it or forget it anytime soon, but for her, I can be in the moment and enjoy my time with my girl.

Nora stays nestled close to me, holding me tight. “One more minute,” she whispers in my ear.

“Do you want to get up and go to the dance floor with everyone?”

She shakes her head, then hugs me tighter.

“I’m drunk, I just realized.” She laughs, muffled into my neck.

“I know, angel. You feeling okay?”

She leans back, and her hazel eyes meet mine, as she rocks her hips. “I’m more than okay.” She smirks.

“Nora,” I growl. “Not here.”

“Why not? This would be the perfect way to start the new year, don’t you think?” she retorts, moving against me again.

“Because I will blow in my pants if you keep doing that. Something you keep managing to do to me, and I have no idea how.”

“Seems like a you problem.” Her eyes sparkle with pure mischief.

“What’s happened to my innocent Pip?”

“I don’t know the meaning of that word anymore. You’ve unlocked something deep inside me,” her voice rasps, full of lust.

I’ve been holding back with Nora when it comes to the bedroom. She’s seen glimpses of my rough side, but when she talks dirty, it’s almost impossible to hold back my innermost cravings because she’s not ready to meet them yet. She was a fecking virgin just a week ago.

I stretch my palm and grip her hip steady, so she doesn’t move another inch. My other hand reaches up to run through her hair, pushing it off her face to get a good look at her.

In the background, people start to count, and as the numbers descend, our eyes stay locked, letting ourselves get lost in one another.

“Three… two… one…”

Nora’s smile stretches the width of her face. She presses her lips ever so slightly against mine, and whispers, “Happy New Year, Declan Buckley.”

“Happy New Year, a stór mo chroí.”Treasure of my heart.

It’s exactly what she is, a pure treasure. Someone I’m lucky to have found all those years ago as a child.

“Declan,” she moans at my declaration. Then leans into me, smashing her lips against mine.

Her hands travel up and over my back to run through my hair, gripping it tight between her fingers as she starts to rock into me. This time I let her hips grind against me, and feck, does it feel good.
