He stands, calming himself while he puts himself away, then leans down to kiss me hard on the lips. I try to pull away as his arm snakes around me, keeping me in place.
“I have a secret,” he whispers against my lips. “They only just put the new cameras up. They don’t work yet.” He smirks, and I hit his chest… hard.
“Holy crap. What is wrong with you?”
He shrugs. “I knew you would be hot for it, so I used it to my advantage.” He taps the side of his head. “I’m pretty smart, you know.” He smirks again.
I don’t know what to say to this eejit. I want to be mad, except he’s right. I was more than hot for it. That was… I don’t even know how to describe how good that was. Although I still can’t believe I let him finger methere, for the first time, on our friend’s lawn.
Who am I even?
I bite my lip. Then I can’t help myself. I go up on my toes to press a kiss to his lips. “You’re lucky I love you.”
He stares deep down into my eyes, and I can feel my heart skip a beat.
“I am,” he whispers and kisses me again… and again. I love his lips.
Our mouths open, and I back out of his hold the second our tongues touch. What is wrong with us? “Stop being such a sex maniac,” I scold.
“Pot meet kettle,” he mutters, and we both laugh.
I can’t even wipe the smile off my face if I try. I’m so deliriously happy with him that I’m making myself sick. I hate bitches like me.I smile again.
Feck it. I’m just going to roll with it.
After Declan helps me get decent, we finally make it back to the house, and when we open the front door, laughter booms through the air, and I get a warm feeling inside. This is Declan’s chosen family, one that will be mine if I let myself open up.
When I was getting ready, I promised myself I would try for him and myself. I’m learning that having a large support system isn’t the worst, and I can’t rely on only one or two people anymore. I can let others care for me, and I can care for others.
Declan squeezes my hand before we make it to the group in the kitchen, and I look up at him in question.
“I know they can be a lot, and I don’t expect you to become best friends overnight, so if it’s too much, come find me.” He pauses. “Use me,” he whispers, and before I can answer, he pulls me toward his friends.
Everyone makes a fuss when we walk in like we didn’t just see them two hours ago.
“Oh, you smell delicious, darling!” Annabelle leans in and sniffs me. “What is it that you are wearing?”
“She made it,” Dec states proudly.
“The perfume?”
“I make all my perfume. I’ve made hundreds over the years.”
“Well, this one is divine.” She sniffs me again and steps back. “Sorry.” she shrugs. “It’s intoxicating.”
“I’d love to make one for you, for all the girls.” Declan squeezes my hand in a silent thank you. He knows this is an olive branch.I’m trying.
“Thank you, that would be lovely. Now let’s get you a drink.”
I didn’t get a chance to look around when we walked in, but it’s designed to perfection, not that I expect anything less from this group now. Not to mention it’s the size of both our homes, in one.
It’s hard to believe Sadie lives in this big fancy house. She’s so down to earth you would never know she’s uber-rich like this.
A slow whistle comes from behind me, so I turn to see Jackson standing there with a playful gleam in his eyes.
“You look amazing, Fiona. Beautiful.”
I smile. “Thank you, Jackson.”
