Iclimbed back down. The wolves coming were almost here. We didn’t have time to move this many people to another location. We had to get into a defensive position and wait. The five wolves reached us but did not approach us head on. They waited just beyond our area. They were waiting for someone. We heard plenty of snarling, growling, and fighting in the distance, but nothing up close.
Suddenly, Tom yells through the mind link that he and his scouting party has been captured by Alpha Lorenzo and five other wolves just beyond our area. Alpha Lorenzo?! What the hell? I told everyone including Drake and Elias to stay put per Alpha Bennett’s orders. I had to go handle the capture of Tom and the scouting party by Alpha Lorenzo. That didn’t sit too well with Elias nor with Drake.
Once I arrived at the scene with the rest of my warriors, AlphaLorenzo became maniacal. He kept ranting and raving about how dare I force him to leave me. We were destined to be together forever. If he can’t have me then no one will have me. He wasn’t making sense. Tom and his scouting party were being held in a net. I mind linked Alpha Bennett the situation. He was on his way.
I was told to shift into my wolf and to lead AlphaLorenzo away from them. I was to lead him towards Alpha Bennett. Alpha Bennett commanded me to shift and to do it. He made me tell him I understood. I did so in a broken voice before I shifted and took off in the desired location of Alpha Bennett. As predicted Alpha Lorenzo took off after me.
I didn’t get very far before Lorenzo tackled me. I used my skill as a trained fighter to get away from him. I was able to defend myself from his attacks and land a few of my own. He wasn’t kidding when he said if he couldn’t have me no one would. He was trying to kill me. He went for the under belly with his claws. I managed to deflect most of it, but he did get my hind leg with his claws. By the time back up showed up, I had a broken leg, a torn ear, gashes on my face, gashes on my hind leg, and he had his jaws around my throat.
Just as he was going for the kill, Alpha Bennett was able toram into his side to knock him off balance to release his hold around my neck. Our warriors then formed a protective shield around me to protect me. Alpha Bennett then brought Alpha Lorenzo down. “Shift Lorenzo! Now!” Alpha Bennett demanded in his Alpha voice.
AlphaLorenzo shifted and stood up. “You were told to leave our territory. You have committed serious crimes here today against my pack and specifically against Breonna Mathis. You will be taken into custody and be taken to the council for trial,” Alpha Bennett explained to Alpha Lorenzo as hewas being bound with silver bracelets. “Take AlphaLorenzo to the dungeon where he will await transport to the council by Beta Theo. Move out,” Alpha Bennett commanded.
Without hesitation, five warriors escorted Alpha Lorenzo to the dungeon. Drake and Elias were quick to race to Bree’s side. “Bree, you need to shift back so we can treat your wounds,” Drake cooed as he stroked my fur.
“Bree, shift!” commanded Alpha Bennett as he came over to assess my injuries.
I shifted back to my human form.Elias quickly covered me with a towel. My wounds were horrible to look at. Without hesitation, Drake picked me up and started off in the direction of the pack hospital. “Baby, everything’s going to be okay. You’re going to be okay,” Drake kept saying over and over again. As if he were trying to convince me and him that I was going to be alright.
Eliaswas right beside us as Drake continued to race towards the pack hospital. They were expecting us as we arrived. I was placed upon a gurney and taken right into a room. Drake and Elias did not like having to wait in the waiting room. Instead, they followed me into a room and watched everything they did to me.
They reset my broken bones and stitched up my gashes. The gashes would heal up in a day thanks to the werewolf healing genes. It could have been worse, much worse if I wasn’t a trained warrior. If Alpha Bennett hadn’t gotten there when he did, I would have died. That’s the sobering part of the whole thing. Drake and Elias were asked to leave so I could get dressed.
After all their poking and proddingwas complete, Alpha Bennett came by to talk with me for a moment. “Bree how are you doing?” he asked me in a gentle voice.
“I’ll be alright. The hardest part of all of this is that I almost died. If you hadn’t shown up when you did. I would have,” I whispered in a mournful voice.
“Yes, that’s true, butother than that, are you okay?” he questioned me.
“Yes sir. I think I am. Before all of this happened, we were wondering who I was going to visit first for the week? We were about to talk about it when I got your mind link. Now, it just seems so surreal,” I explained as I looked at my hands in my lap.
“I totally understand. How about you visit Elias first and then you visit Drake last? Sound like a plan?” mused Alpha Bennett with a raised eyebrow.
“Sounds like a plan,” I agreed as a knock came at my door. “Come in,” I cried out. Drake and Elias walked through the door holding a bouquet of flowers.
“I’ll see you later Bree. Get some rest and I’ll see you in the morning before you leave,” Alpha Bennett said chuckling as he started walking out the door shaking his head.
“What?” Drake said as he approached me with a silly grin on his face. “Are you alright Bree?”
“I’ll be alright. I just need to rest and let my wolf heal my injuries,” I explained as I sat on the side of the bed.
“Did they say you could leave yet,” Elias asked as he walked over to me with the flowers in his hand.
“I’m just waiting for the doctor to come back so I can go. He said he would be back in a few minutes,” I replied as I continued to look at my hands in my lap.
“Why are you looking at your hands instead of us?” Elias asked with a frown on his faceand concern in his voice.
“Can we talk when we get out of here? I … I … um” was all I could say before tears started to fall down my face. I didn’t want to cry, not here.
Knock. Knock.
“Come in,” Drakeanswered for me.
“Bree, oh, sorry. I didn’t know you had company. You can leave now. Remember, rest up for tonight. Make sure you don’toverdo it for a day or two, then it’s back to your normal routine. Alright?” Dr. Andrews advised as he looked me over.
“Yes sir. I promise not tooverdo it. I have Alphas Elias and Drake to make sure I don’t,” I explained as I stood up from the hospital bed.
“Very good. Hopefully, I won’t see you for a while. Take care young lady,” Dr. Andrewssaid as he walked out the door.
