I met dad and Tom outside Alpha Bennett’soffice. Why did dad look nervous? Shouldn’t I be the one who should be nervous? I don’t know. Okay, let’s just get this meeting over with. Dad knocks on the door and waits for the ‘come in’ from Alpha Bennett before we all enter. When we enter, we see Gamma Floyd and Delta Miles and well as some of the elders. I’m not sure what to make of it all.

Alpha Bennett motioned us forward andthen said, “Why don’t we all take a seat so we can have a chat, hmm?”

We all took our seats. I didn’t say a word. I just watched everyone. Dad looked pale. Why is he looking like that? Is he in trouble? Did we do something wrong?

“Alright, the reason why we are meeting today is Breonna met her mate last night. Rumors are flying around the pack about what she is planning on doing, so I thought it prudent to bring us all together so we can squelch those rumors. Bree addressed the warriors this morning, but evidently, they haven’t said anything to anyone because now more rumors are spreading,” Alpha Bennett lamented sadly as he looked at me and then to dad.

“What rumors are going around Alpha?” I asked with confusion in my voice?

“Well, there is a rumor that you are going to abandon us andleave today to join his pack,” Delta Miles announced with frown on his face.

“How about this one, You hate your father for sending your mother away and you are running away from home with this boy,” chimed in Gamma Floyd.

“I like this one,Breonna is overwhelmed with the task of trying to figure out how to create a training plan for the tournament that she paid a boy to pretend to be her mate so she could leave the pack and join another pack,” Tom piped up.

“What?! Who …I … what the fuck! No wonder the warriors looked at me like that this morning. Who is saying this? Who?!?” I demanded as I looked around the room.

“Calm down Bree,” commanded Alpha Bennett. His was laced with his alpha aura.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.No wonder people were looking at me like they were. What was I going to do? How was I going to handle this?

“Bree, Bree. Breonna!” Alpha Bennettgrowled. “I need you to listen to me. We are going to address this tonight at a pack meeting. We are not going to let these rumors linger. Do you still intend to honor your commitment to train and participate in the tournament?” Alpha Bennett wondered aloud while he looked at everyone in the room coming to stop to look at me.

“Yes, Alpha Bennett. I meant what I said this morning. I intend to honor my commitment. That was never in question. Never. I’m sorry that rumors started flying around that brought that into question,” I concluded as Alpha Bennett’s office phone started to ring.

Alpha Bennett held up his hand to us allwhich meant for us all to remain quiet. “Hello,” answered Alpha Bennett.

“Bennett, Blaine here. Do you have a minute to discuss a mate situation?” Alpha Blaine of the White River Pack asked.

“I’m in a meeting right now dealing with the fallout from the mate situation. What’s going on?” Alpha Bennett inquired.

“Well,we are hearing some rather disturbing rumors. Is it possible for you and the girl in question with her parents to meet with us in about an hour or two at my pack house?” Alpha Blaine inquired.

Alpha Bennett looked at me and then to dad before he answered, “Yes, we can be there in about an hour and a half. Will that be alright?”

“That would be perfect. See you then,” Alpha Blaine replied.

Alpha Bennett hung up his phone and sighed. “Well,that was unexpected. I guess now I get to meet your mate. Alright. We will meet out front in 15 minutes. I need to finish a few things and let Luna Sophia know what’s going on. Gamma, you, and Delta will be in charge until we get back,” Alpha Bennett explained as we all got up and headed to the door.

“Understood Alpha,” Gamma Floyd replied as he held the door open for everyone to exit.

We all went our separate ways to get ready to leave for the White River Pack territory.I went to get my phone and to text Andy that we were coming to see him. But I didn’t know if I was allowed to do so. So, I just sent him a generic text back from his text.
