“Hello, this is my daughter Breonna, and you are?” inquired my dad looking at the young man standing by our table staring at me.
“Good evening, sir. My name is Andrew Silvers,” he replied not taking his eyes off of me.
“Andrew, won’t you join us for dinner or are you here with someone else?” quizzed dad looking around to see if anyone was looking for him.
“Iactually work here sir. But I would like to join you for a short while so I could get to know a little bit about you and Breonna, my mate. If I may,” Andrew added still looking at me.
“Won’t you get in trouble with your boss if youjoin us for dinner?” dad asked him with a furrowed brow.
“Let me go ask and I’ll be right back,” Andrew stated as he left to find his boss.
“What are the chances of you finding your mate as we go out to dinner? Hmm?” dad chuckled as he watched Andrew talk to another man across the room.
“What are the odds. I don’t understand it all myself.I mean Tom hasn’t even found his mate yet,” I replied as I watched him walk back over to us.
“I can join you for dinner if the offer is still available,” Andrewannounced as he stood by the table waiting for dad to answer him.
“Have a seat. I would like to get to know you better. I’m Breonna’s dad, Beta Theodore Mathis of the Blackhawk Pack. What pack do you belong to Andrew?” dad asked as Andrew sat down next to me.
“I belong to the White River Pack sir,” Andrew answered him respectfully.
“What position does your family hold in the pack?” dad asked pointedly.
“Dad!” I whisper shouted at him. “This is not the time or the place to asking those types of questions. And, for the record, what does it matter what position they hold. He’s my mate,” I countered.
“You’re right. It doesn’t matter the position. I’m sorry Bree. Old habits die hard. Please forgive me. How old are you, Andrew?” dad quizzed him.
“Dad, can we order first. Then, you can give him the third degree. But I would prefer it to be done at home or somewhere else and not in public. Please!” I begged my dad as my cheeks burned with embarrassment.
“For the record, I am 19.My parents are Betas of the pack. We actually own this restaurant, so me sitting down with you is no big deal. My dad was actually happy that I found my mate. I will become Beta of my pack when I turn 21. Until then, I work here when I am not training or on patrol,” Andrew answered dad with a grin.
“Andrew, my dad usually isn’t so quizzical or harsh. I apologize for his brusque behavior,” I said as I looked at him.
“No, I get it. A stranger comes along and says he’s mydaughters mate. He wants to know everything about them. He’s protective. I get it. You’re beautiful. He called you, Bree. Is that your nickname?” Andrew inquired as he continued to stare into my eyes.
“It’s kind of a nickname, yes. Everyone calls me Bree. Except when I’m in trouble or it’s something serious, then I get the full name,” I explained as I took in his musk and pine scent.
“My nickname is Andy. Bree, may I hold your hand. I want to make sure it’s alright with you before I touched you because I don’t want to offend you in any way,” Andy offered. Swoon.
As soon as he touched my hand, the sparks that went up my arm were amazing. I swear I must have skipped a heartbeat or two because this was simply amazing. The feeling I got from him touching my hand was out of this world.
Our waiter came over and we ordered our dinner. Dad continued to talk to Andy about this and that, but I totally tuned them out. I wastuned in to how I was feeling and how Andy made me feel when he had his hand on my thigh. Dinner came and we began to eat. I picked at my dinner which dad and Andy looked perplexed at. I was too nervous to eat.
“Bree why aren’t you eating,” dad inquired looking at me.
“To be honest, I’m too nervous dad,” I replied to him as Icontinued to stare at my plate.
Dad chuckled and Andy gently squeezed my thigh. “It’s alright. I’m nervous too. Relax, nothing is going to happen that you don’t want to happen. Okay,” Andy stated with a gentle squeeze of my thigh.
“Alright, but I still can’t eat a lot right now. I think I’ll take the rest home and eat it later. Is that alrightwith you?” I asked dad with glint in my eye.
“Yes, it’s alright with me. But remember, you still have training tomorrow morning. You have to eatsomething, or you won’t do very well. And, you have the meeting with the Alpha tomorrow afternoon,” dad reminded me with a serious look on his face.
“I know dad. Once my nerves settle down, I’ll eat some more. Right now, I can’t eat very much. Come on, give me a break.I have plenty of time before I have to meet with the Alpha tomorrow. I’ll be fine. You worry too much,” I stated with a grin on my face.
“I know, but it keeps me alive and going. Okay, so what’s next kids?” dad asked looking towards Andy.
“Sir, may I take Bree home? I would like to talk with her a little bit more,” Andy explained to dad as he looked at me.
