“Alpha Bennett you are … Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt,” Rufus stated as he bowed toward Alpha Bennett.

“Quite alright. Now, what have you found,” Alpha Bennettdemanded as everyone looked at the doctor with questioning eyes.

“Well,you are not going to believe this. Every epi-pen except the one used contained enough poison to kill Breonna. The pancake mix, the mushrooms, bacon, the sausage, and most of the meats in the Beta suite were tainted with Wolfsbane. Most of the items that were mostly for Breonna only contained strychnine. Because she had an allergic reaction to the mushrooms which were tainted with wolfsbane and then had to use the epi-pen; the two mixed together to create some sort of toxic chemical in her body. We believe we have a solution. We are administering it to her now. She will be good as new by morning time,” Rufus announced as he watched the nurses hang new IV bags and attach them to my INT line.

CHAPTER 10

Alpha Elias

“So, Breonna was the intended target all along? Why? Who hates her that much that they would want to kill her?” Elias started to bombard everyone with questions.

“I can only think of one person who absolutely loaves her. She was banished, but she still has resources.Do we still have eyes on her Alpha?” dad asked Alpha Bennett with a furrowed brow.

“Yes, we still have eyes on her. I will makeinquires on the down low to see what she’s been up to. I need to know if she’s behind this,” Alpha Bennett revealed as he excused himself from the room to make a phone call.

“Dad, you don’t think … she couldn’t… would she?” I stammered as I looked at dad incredulously.

“I don’t know. I wouldn’t put it past her,” dad sighed a sad sigh as he hugged me.

Alpha Bennett walked in and announced, “Alright, here’s the plan. Tomorrow when you are feeling better, you will go to Alpha Elias’s territory for your planned week. Then, you will go to Alpha Drake for your planned week. While you are gone, we will work diligently to find out who is targeting you and why.”

“While she is with us, we will make sureshe is protected. You have our word,” Elias stated with assurance in his voice.

“Good. Now, we need tostart to find out who and the why. We need to clear out and let Bree get some rest so she can get better,” Alpha Bennet stated as he started to move towards the door.

“Can we stay here with her tonight? I wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing she was here by herself,” Elias explained as he moved near me on the bed.

“I’m not sure if that’s a good idea.We can ask, I thought Theo was going to stay here tonight with her,” Alpha Bennett stated as he stood by the door.

“I was going to have a bed brought in for meso I could stay with her tonight. I didn’t want her to be alone,” my dad announced as Elias and Drake’s faces looked sad and forlorn. “Look, you two are going to have my daughter for the next two weeks. May I spend tonight with her? I still worry about her. I promise to take good care of my daughter,” dad pleaded as he looked from Elias to Drake.

“Yes, Beta Theo. You’re right. I keep forgetting that we are not mated yet. I worry about her. My apologies. I will say goodnight to her and then leave for the evening,” Elias stated as he gave me kiss on the temple. “Good night, Bree. I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Good night, Elias. I’ll see you in the morning. Don’t worry, dad will take good care of me,” I offered as I winked at him.Elias just squeezed my hand and stepped back so Drake could come over.

“Hi honey.I’m so, so sorry this happened to you. Just feel better, hmm? Get some rest and we’ll see you in the morning. Okay?” Drake asked as he kissed my cheek and stroked my hair.

“I willdo my best. Promise,” I cooed as I stared into his gorgeous eyes.

“Good night, love,” Drake whispered as he kissed my cheek one more time before stepping back to stand with Elias.

“Good night, Drake,” I whisperedas I watched him step back.

“Now that everyone has said their ‘good nights’ let us go so she can get some rest.Breonna, get some sleep and feel better. That’s an order,” Alpha Bennett commanded in a soft voice.

“Yes Alpha,” I replied as I snuggled down in my bed. Dad’s bed was being delivered as they walked out the door. Dad went into the bathroom to change into his pajamas. He climbed into the bed next to me.

“The last time I stayed in the hospital with you was when you had your appendix taken out when you wereeight years old. Do you remember that?” Dad inquired with a grin on his face.

“Yes, I remember that. You kept telling me that I had nothing to worry about.We read books and watched TV. We had fun together. Just the two of us,” I recalled with a gleam in my eyes.

“Yes, I wish we were here under different circumstances.So, how’s the dating going with the two Alphas? Do you have a preference over the two yet?” dad asked with a sly smirk as he settled on his side to talk with me.

“Yes and no. I like them both. I’ve known Drake longer, but like I said. I like them both. Dad, what am I going to do. I’m torn betweenalphas?” I groaned as I tried to face him in the bed.

“Try not to move around too much Puddin’.You will know who to choose in the end. I have no doubt in that. I think I already know who you will choose. But I will hold off with my opinions until after you come to your conclusion. Do you need anything? Water? Juice? Crackers?” dad questioned me as he watched me lying on the bed.

“No, I don’t need anything. Thanks dad.Did Alpha Bennett say when I had to choose which Alpha? I hope I’m not on a deadline. That would be worse. Ugh! What am I going to do? How did I get into this situation dad?” I complained as I snugged into the covers of the bed as best I could.
