Elias madeOmelets, bacon, and pancakes. I started eating without really seeing what I was eating. The omelets had spinach, onions, tomatoes, peppers, sausage, and mushrooms. I ate the pancakes first. I don’t like eating cold pancakes. Elias had already finished his omelet. I was a couple bites in the omelet when I noticed the taste of the mushroom. I looked at the fork and I dropped it. “Oh no! Oh shit!” I exclaimed rather loudly, and I grabbed a drink of orange juice.

“What’s the matter? What’s wrongBree?” Elias shouted suddenly aware something was wrong.

“I’m allergic to mushrooms.I didn’t realize there were mushrooms in the omelet. I thought you knew I was allergic to them,” I stammered as I just stared at the plate like it contained poison.

“I … I forgot … I forgot. I’m so, so sorry. What do I need to do. Tell me. Tell me what do I need to do?” he stuttered as he got to his feet.

I stood up and raced to the bathroom. I started throwing up. Everything I had just eaten was history. I couldn’t believe it. When I came out of the bathroom, my food was gone. Elias had cleaned up the kitchen. “Are you alright? Do I need to get you anything? Do I need to call anyone for you?” he continued to question me as he watched me walk over to the sink and fill a cup with water.

“No, hopefully, all I will do is throw up and I will not require my epi-pen. We need to get to the meeting with Alpha Bennett anyway,” I stated as I grabbed the file folder on top of the suitcase.

“Yeah, let me know if you need anything. I will get it for you, okay? I got a bottle of water for you. Let me help you to the conference room,” he stammered as he wrapped his arm around my waist.

“Stop coddling me. I appreciate the help, but please don’t overdo it. Okay?” I pleaded with him as we began to walk up the stairs to the Alphas conference room.

“Yes ma’am. I promise. It’ll be hard, but I promise not to coddle,” he whispered low enough for only me to hear. It wouldn’t do for anyone to hear an alpha promising something like that to anyone.

We reached the conference room. Elias knocked on the door. We heard the ‘come in’ and Elias opened the door for me. We walked in to seemy father, Tom, and about four other people in there as well as Drake.

Dad reached me first, “Hey sweetheart. Why do you smell like you’ve been throwing up? Are you feeling alright?” he questioned me as he looked from me to Elias.

“Elias made breakfast this morning and he forgot I was allergic to mushrooms. He put them in the omelets. I didn’t see them and ate a few before I realized it,” I explained as dad looked at me with concern etched on his face. Everyone looked at Elias after I announced that he put mushrooms in the omelets.

“I forgot. Honest. I got distracted by the text by Bennett requesting my attendance here. I just forgot. I’m sorry. I already apologized,” Eliasgrumbled but nobody really heard him.

“You need to sit downto retain your strength,” dad stated as he tried to lead me to a chair.

“No dad. I need to stand just in case I need to run for the bathroom. Yes, Elias has apologized so many times,I’ve told him to stop apologizing. It was an honest mistake. Everyone makes them,” I explained to everyone who was glaring at him.

“Hello, my love, I’m sorry you are not feeling well. I wish we were all here under happier circumstances as well,” Drake commented as he gave me a kiss on the temple. “Do you need anything?”

“No, I don’t need anything, at least not at this moment.” I added as I leaned against the wall of the conference room.

“Alright, the reason why we are here is because we had a breach in our security last night. Drake had one the night before which is why he is here now to discuss what he found out. Before we bring in the person responsible for the breech in patrol, let’s hear from Drake what he found out. Drake, the floor is yours,” Alpha Bennett stated as he sat down in his chair at the head of the table.

“Thank you, Bennett. We thought it was just a probe by rouges to see how strong our borders were, but when we did an investigation, we were wrong. We looked at our security cameras and found the perpetrator made their way to one of our bunkers that we keep some of our controlled substances in. We keep Wolfsbane in that one bunker. We do not keep large quantities, mind you, but enough to induce rouges to talk, etc. Our entire supply was taken. I reached out to the other Alphas in the surrounding areas to see if they too have had a ‘probe’ or security breech lately. Surprisingly, they too have had one. Some of their substances have gone missing as well,” Drake reported as he drew a heavy breath.

We all looked at each other. What the hell?“Do you have any idea who is behind these breeches?” my father questioned Drake.

“No, but we did get a facial recognition hit off ofmy camera on the perpetrator. He is a known wanted rogue. He is wanted by the council for terroristic actions against individuals. He is a paid mercenary. Who he is targeting, we do not know?” Drake announced as he looked around the room.

I groaned as I lunged for the door and ran out of the room.My security detail was close behind me as was Tom. “Where’s Tom going,” Elias asked as he quickly stood and stared out the door.

“My guess is that he went to make sure Bree is alright and to hold her hair. Her hair is in a ponytail. If she’s throwing up, her hair might get in the way, so he’ll make sure it stays out of the way,” my father explained as shifted in his seat.

“I think I have a scrunchie here in the cabinet,” Alpha Bennett announced as got up to look.

“Why do you have a scrunchie in the cabinet?” Elias asked with a look of confusion on his face.

“Because I have a mate with long hair. She will from time to time need something for her hair. You’ll see. You’ll be expected to have one in your office, desk, bedside table, car, kitchen, living room, anywhere she is, you will need to have one,” Bennett explained as he found one and handed it to my father for me.

I walked back into the conference room holding a washcloth to my face, I looked pale and washed out. I didn’t care. Ifelt horrible. I leaned against the wall and stayed there. Dad brought the scrunchie over to me to put my hair up. I thanked him for it and put my hair up.

Alpha Bennett asked for the individual in question to be brought in before us. He came in flanked by two warriors. The wolf looked nervous, and he knew he was in trouble.

“Do you know why you were brought before us today?” Alpha Bennett asked the young wolfstanding before him.

“Yes Alpha. I allowed someone to breech the border. I didn’t stop them,” he answered nervously looking from one person to the other.
