Striding toward her, he made out more details, his cock stirring the closer he got. Black rimmed glasses sat on a pert nose, brown eyes widening as they stared up at him. The scent wafting from her reminded him of fresh-baked vanilla cupcakes, and his mouth watered with the sudden urge to take a bite and see if she tasted the same.
His boots froze to the roof a few feet away from the doctor. They stared at each other in silence until he forced himself to focus and cleared his throat. He tried to clear his mind of the images playing through it featuring what he’d like to do to the doctor too, but they were persistent.
“Doctor Alosbee?”
“Yes?”
“I’m Jett Comanne. I’m the Controller that will be with you during your stay.”
He wasn’t sure if shaking hands was the proper greeting, but it was the best he could come up with. It turned out to be a terrible idea when he felt the soft slide of her skin against his. He had to clear his throat again to cover the instinctive growl, and he didn’t miss her wince when his hand clenched around hers.
He softened his grip as he apologized.
“Sorry about that. Don’t exactly have a delicate touch.”
He offered a lopsided grin, hoping she wasn’t going to turn out to be some stuffy, snooty doctor who thought they were better than everyone around them. If she did, the next week was going to be hell.
It was going to be hell anyway if they way his body was reacting to her was any indication. It wasn’t like Doctor Alosbee was the first omega he’d been around, he lived in a building with more than a dozen, but for some reason his instincts were going rogue.
“It’s okay. And you can call me Evelyn. No one calls me Doctor Alosbee unless they don’t know me, or I’m getting in trouble for something. Usually for falling asleep at my desk because I was working too late.”
She chuckled and Jett felt his own smile widening. She had a husky voice that had his erection twitching and he was glad the belt he wore would help hide it. The doctor looked to be in her mid-thirties, so he had a few years on her, yet his body was acting like he was a teenager sniffing his first omega.
“Can’t say I’ve never fallen asleep at my desk. Some days just take it out of you.”
They stood there smiling at each other until he realized he still held onto her hand. Releasing it and straightening, he’s never been gladder that his darker skin didn’t show a flush the way her pale complexion would.
Searching for something to make the encounter less awkward, he looked over her head into the speeder.
“The Commander said you had supplies you needed transported. I can carry whatever you have.”
One blonde brow rose, and Jett couldn’t help the way he straightened and puffed his chest when her gaze slid over him.
“There’s a lot. Are you sure you don’t want to get something to put it in?”
He could have gone to find a cart, but it didn’t look like there were that many cases in the speeder, and after her comment, his alpha pride wouldn’t allow him to. He realized he was being ridiculous even as the need to prove his strength overwhelmed logic.
“It’s fine. I can carry it.”
She shrugged and turned to reach in for the first case. The contents rattled, and he had no idea what could be inside. It wasn’t until she passed him the third case, with two more still on the second seat, plus her luggage, that he started cursing himself under his breath. He had to juggle the cases around a bit to be able to carry all five, and it left him unable to see where he was going. He was too old to be acting like an idiot just to prove some point that no one else cared about.
“I’m assuming we need to go through that door over there?”
Chocolate eyes blinked at him from around the cases, her struggle to hold back a smile at his predicament obvious.
“Yes. The lift is right through there. You can lead the way.”
He caught her soft snort.
“Lean down for a moment.”
Brow furrowed, Jett was careful to keep the stack balanced as he complied. The top case disappeared, leaving him face to face with the doctor.
“You don’t have to—”
She cut him off with a shake of her head.
“I’d rather be sure you can see to walk so my test tubes don’t end up scattered all over the ground.”
