He stood and picked up his briefcase, pulling it over his shoulder as he got ready to leave. When he looked up, I could tell that even though I was done, he wasn’t.

“For what it’s worth, I think you made a good decision.”

“Thank you. I’ve always admired this property,” I said as I stood and looked around it one last time before leaving.

“I wasn’t talking about the property.”

As I looked back at Kane, that cocky, arrogant look I was used to was back in place. “It was a good decision not to go out to dinner with me. If you had, then it would have just been a waste of time. Small talk, bullshit, you know the drill. There was one end goal when I approached you and dinner wasn’t it.”

Kane spoke with an authority I wasn’t used to. He moved closer and closer until he was inches away from me. The next thing I knew, his arm reached out and wrapped around me. He was forceful and sure of himself, and for the first time in my life, it ignited something deep inside of me rather than made me want to run.

“But you already knew that, didn’t you, Trinity?”

My lips parted for only a second, but it was a second too long. Kane’s mouth covered mine and his tongue darted in as he claimed me in ways I wasn’t prepared for. My body melted into his and my hands came up between us as I gripped his coat, pulling him closer. I couldn’t remember the last time someone kissed me without asking for explicit consent. I hadn’t dated anyone since college, and other than my subs and the people I trained, I never let anyone close enough to take something from me. A noise rose from deep within me and the sound of it was foreign to my ears. He chuckled and dropped his briefcase to the floor, reaching for my ass with his now free hand. He gripped me hard and lifted my leg, pressing his hard shaft against my damp pussy. I’m sure he could feel the heat burning inside my core, but I had never in my life been more thankful to be wearing business clothes; in anything less he’d be able to feel how wet I was from only a kiss.

Kane’s movements slowed, and his grip lessened. It felt like he was pulling away and regretting the need to do so. I couldn’t blame him. I wanted to push him off of me but couldn’t bring myself to do it. He guided my leg back to the floor as he peppered my lips and neck with small kisses. By the time I was steady on my feet again, he had stopped. With one step back, he bent down to get his bag, then pulled it back up over his shoulder and looked me straight in the eye.

“If you want to cut the bullshit and finish this, then you know where to reach me.”

With a wink he turned and walked out of the warehouse, leaving me there to stew in my own arousal, frustration and regret.Fuck you, Kane Saint, and the horse you rode in on.

Chapter Three

Kane

Ihadnoideathat my brother had agreed to work for Trinity Hill. It wasn’t until he called me telling me he couldn’t make the meeting that he let me in on everything that had transpired. Beckett Haynes, the owner of The Pendulum, had referred her to us since we were part of the community. Her business idea was genius, but the building she owned needed a lot of work. Trinity had plans drawn up for a fully operational education dungeon. It wouldn’t be open to the public, only to people who hired her to teach them different specialties. It required a ton of personalized equipment that couldn’t be installed until our work was done. We had a huge rectangle with no walls that needed to be turned into offices, showers with locker rooms, training rooms, and a fully functioning kitchen and laundry room. It was a ton of work, but we could get it done for her. I wasn’t lying when I told her we couldn’t finish if she didn’t sign today. Nick had supply orders set to deliver before the holidays and it would be a crap load of work to rearrange everything for January.

What I hadn’t expected was how fucking gorgeous she looked wearing black dress pants, with a fitted black dress shirt and shiny black heels. Her black hair framed her face in a way that made her look almost ethereal. When I saw her in the club, the short hot pink wig she had worn was cute, but not even close to the same. That night she was hot as fuck. Today she left me breathless. When I caught her looking at me as more than Kane Saint the asshole, and even more than the stand-in brother, I knew I stood a chance. I took a risk, one I wouldn’t have had she been at the club but instead a risk I would have taken if she were a normal woman I met in a normal situation. Considering neither of us were remotely close to normal, I had no idea what would happen. But when that moan left her mouth as we kissed, something inside me jumped for joy.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed Nick.

“Hey, it’s done.”

“Was she pissed?”

“Let’s just say in the beginning of our meeting she made it very clear I was not the Saint brother she was expecting, but by the end she was very happy I was the one who showed up.”

“What did you do, Kane?”

“Me? Nothing!” I said with a laugh.

“I swear, if you fuck this up, I will kill you. Beckett rarely refers us clients and I’m not about to piss off the most powerful dominatrix in the city because my brother couldn’t keep his dick in his pants.”

“You will be happy to know my pants have been covering my dick all day.” My phone buzzed with a notification. “Hey let me go, I have to—”

The line went dead before I even finished.

I got into my car and looked down at my phone.

Trinity: 9PM The Pendulum

Kane: I’ll be there.

I looked over at her car parked out front and then back at the door I just came out. It was clear she wasn’t leaving yet, so I pulled out with a shit-eating grin on my face. I hadn’t expected to hear from her before I had even left the parking lot, but I respected a woman who knew what they wanted and did something about it.

The rest of the day was a total loss for me. All I could think about was Trinity. Why the Pendulum? What did she have in store for me there? Was it just a safe place to meet? A place she could keep her distance from me? When I got to the club, I headed straight for the bar. I was not a nervous guy by nature, but this woman had me on edge.

“Isn’t it getting a little too close to Christmas for you to be in town?” Missy asked as she poured my drink.
