No fucking way. I stood and went after her. She pushed her way through a crowd of people who were offering her compliments on her amazing skill set. Had it been any other night and any other woman, I would have done the same. But it wasn’t any other woman. It was Trinity Hill, and she was going to be mine.
“Trinity!”
She turned just as she was about to enter the dressing room, but the look on her face wasn’t one of anger, instead she smiled and let out a little laugh as she opened the door and disappeared.
Chapter Four
Trinity
Kanelookedlikehehad seen a ghost when he saw my scene and I was on such a high there was nothing that could take me down. I held on as long as I could, but at the last minute when he called my name, a laugh escaped me. Maybe I was insane, but there was nothing better than having Kane fucking Saint chasing me through the club and calling for me. I might be a bit of a masochist after all.
I changed out of my clothes and into a pair of leggings and a black hoodie with my Vans. I didn’t like my normal clientele seeing me dressed down, but I didn’t have many mentees here tonight. After a scene that intense, I needed comfort clothes and comfort food. Harry’s deli was calling my name. I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder. If Kane had more to say to me, then he would have come into the dressing room. They are available to anyone in the club and the only rule is no sex, so he could easily have followed me in. He didn’t. Maybe his schoolboy crush was over, or maybe it was all just too much to take in. Either way, I was happy for a break. I could feel his gaze on me whenever he was in the same room, and it kept me on edge.
When I made my way out of the dressing room, I headed straight to the door. This wasn’t my side of town and I didn’t take the subway when I had a lot to carry, so I was stuck standing out front waiting for valet to bring my car up. I reached into my back pocket and pulled out my phone. Two texts, one from my mom saying goodnight and the other from Kane. My heart raced as I opened it and as I read the words, I heard his voice.
“We need to talk.” The same words he sent via text message were just spoken into my ear. Somehow, he’d followed me out and crept up behind me without me even realizing it. Distractions like him were deadly in a city like this. I turned to him and shoved my phone back into my pocket.
“I have other plans.”
“With whom?”
“I don’t see how that is any of your business.”
“Is it work?”
“No.”
“Then I’m coming.”
“You are not.”
“Oh, yes, I am.”
He walked up to the valet and handed the guy a hundred, which only made me roll my eyes until I heard what he was saying.
“Leave Ms. Hill’s car and pull mine up. I’ll be driving us tonight.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Oh, fuck no,” I said as I walked up to him and the valet made himself scarce, “I am not going anywhere with you in your car. How do I know you won’t kill me?”
“Because you just signed a half a million dollar construction contract with my company. Killing you would be bad for business.”
He had a point. “I want to drive.”
“Okay, fine.”
We stood there in silence as we waited for the valet guy to get back. It was a Wednesday night, so it made sense that they didn’t have a lot of staff, but standing in silence was pretty miserable. When the guy finally pulled up, he held the door open for Kane, but Kane walked around to the passenger’s side.
“Give her the keys.”
The valet raised his eyebrows, then looked back at the car. It was one of those flashy, way too expensive sports cars that I knew nothing about other than they cost a shit ton of money.
“I said, give her the keys.”
The man jumped to do what he was told, and it made me wonder if he would be a good sub or a bratty one. He held the door open for me as I got in. Kane reached for my bag and put it into the back seat that wasn’t even a seat but more of a storage space as the valet closed the door.
“Have you lost your damn mind?”
