“Not my responsibility.”
“No, but when you care for someone… when you love them…”
I burst out laughing. “I don’t know him well enough to love him.”
“But you want to.”
I wave my hand. “It’s not what you think.”
She holds up her hands. “I’m sorry if I’m wrong.”
“No need to apologize.”
We leave the yoga classroom behind and head to the main gym area.
“Dawn!” a familiar voice calls out.
I turn around to see Tex hurrying over.
“Did you make more of those protein balls?” he asks. “I haven’t been able to think about anything else but them ever since.”
“Protein balls?” Kelly asks.
“Trust me. You get her balls into your mouth and it’s like heaven.”
I grin. “You like my balls, huh?”
“You bet I do,” Tex exclaims.
I just grin at him.
He blinks a few times. “Ah, any way you might turn them into protein bars?
“Nope. I like it when people talk about my balls.” I laugh, while he roans.
“You’re a riot,” Kelly says. “Your balls are that good, huh? Are they even better if you lick ‘em first?”
“I’m not sure. You can go ahead and test and find out. Maybe it’s better to suck on them a bit.” I push my tongue into my cheek.
Tex just shakes his head. “You two. Nasty.”
“Are the protein… treats really that good?” Kelly ass.
“Amazing.”
“Amaz-balls,” I say with a wink. “I might be convinced to make some more.”
‘That would be great!” Tex fist-bumps me, nods to Kelly, and heads off to go back to his workout.
“You really made protein balls?” Kelly asks.
“Yeah. I tweaked a few recipes, mashed ‘em together, and created something knew. The recipes had been for protein bars, but I like the convenience of balls better. They travel better, and bars break too easily. At least mine tend to.”
“That’s so cool! Why don’t you create more recipes? You could write a recipe book and travel from gym to gym, giving out samples and selling copies.”
“That sounds like fun,” I say slowly.
“But you’re going to college, right?”
