“Thank you so much,” she gushes. “Are you one of the trainers here?”

I stifle a laugh. “No.”

“Because I feel like I should pay you for how much you helped me. I’m going to keep working on these exercises and make up my own routine with them. Should I do a set number of them or…”

“You can do a few sets of ten reps each. You could cycle through and do ten reps and then go through the exercises as many times as you can handle it. Or you can max out on each move before moving on. Whichever way you like best.”

“Okay. Man.” She whips out her phone. “I’m going to write all of this down so I don’t forget. Seriously, thank you… What’s your name again? I’m sorry. I’m so much better with remembering faces versus names.”

“Dawn.”

“Dawn. I’m Alison.”

“Maybe I’ll see you around, Alison.”

“I sure hope so! And I hope I didn’t ruin your work out or take up too much of your time.”

“No, not at all. I had fun working out with you.”

She beams and gets back to typing.

My legs are sore from showing her all of the moves, ad I could go back to targeting my abs, but I’m starting to get hungry. It’s almost dinnertime, so I wave goodbye to Alison and head to the front.

“…such a great little protein ball…” Pamela is saying to a massive guy. “I wish I could have ten more of them!”

“That sounds like a nice snack,” the guy says.

“Dawn! She’s the one who made it. I’m sorry, but I’ve been telling everyone about that protein ball you made. I can’t stop thinking about it!”

“I have a few more if you want some,” I say. “I don’t mind.”

I grab out the container and hand it to her.

“I don’t want to take them all,” Pamela says even though her eyes seem to suggest otherwise.

I laugh. “I can always make more. You’re welcome to try one, sir.”

He takes two and pops one into his mouth, chewing slowly. “That is good,” he says around the mouthful.

“I’m glad you like it.” I beam at them.

Pamela daintily eats one. “I’m going to have to ration these,” she says. “It won’t be easy, though!”

“You’re too kind.”

“Not at all,” she gushes.

“You could make a killing with them,” the guy says. “What’s your name?”

“Dawn.”

“Hi, Dawn. Nice to meet you. I’m Tex. I’m not sure I’ve seen you around.”

“I generally work out in the early afternoon during the week.”

“Ah. Work makes it so I can only go later on. Still, if I’m around and you need a spotter or anything, let me know.”

“Will do.”
