“Who says I don’t?”
“Do you do anything safe?”
“Sex!”
Few guys glance our way having heard that, and she waves to them before blowing me a kiss and waltzing out of here.
I shake my head. Kaylie’s unreal. I wish I had as much confidence as she does.
We mostly used machines, and I’m not confident enough to use them alone, so I head over to the weights. As far as I know, Lucas never ordered the lighter weights, so I grab the fives. Time to see if I can bicep curl these bad boys.
I turn to the side so I can watch my form in the mirror. Don’t swing. Only the bottom half to the arm moves.
I manage to do eight reps before the next one isn’t even a half-rep. I put the weights on the ground. I’ll wait a bit and then try to do another six to eight reps.
“Are you done with those?”
I glance over to see the model. Kelly I think is what Lucas called her.
I point to myself, and she nods.
“I’m in the middle of a set, but you can use them real quick, and we can alternate sets,” I offer.
“Great.”
She takes them and does a bicep curl up and then turns her wrist and lowers her arms down before turning her wrists back to normal and doing another bicep curl.
“What is that?” I ask.
“Bicep curl up, hammer curl down. That way, I’m working my biceps and then my triceps.”
“Huh. Lucas never taught me hammer curls.”
“He has his moves that he likes, and he tends to be a bit… vanilla.”
I lift my eyebrows. “You think so?”
“I’m sure.”
“Have you two…”
“Have we ever what? Worked out together? Yeah, a few times, before he stated to work here.”
“No, I meant…” I glance around and lower my voice. “Hooked up.”
“No. No way. He’s not my type.”
“And your type is…” I can’t believe that she wouldn’t want to be with a guy who could model beside her.
She nods behind me, and I casually glance over through the mirror to spy a an African American male who is every bit as chiseled as Lucas is. He’s standing in front of the mirror, doing bicep curls with some serious weights, and when he lowers his arms, his shirt is pulled tight enough that I can see some of the outline of his abs.
“I want to have his babies one day,” she says with a sigh. “But he doesn’t know I’m alive.”
“Girl, I will introduce you to him right now.”
“You know his name?”
“No, but we can change that.”
