He lets out a groan that turns into a grunt, and he jerks beneath me. I can feel him, all of him, and I keep going, enjoying the heady rush knowing that I pushed him over the edge until I’m there too, orgasming hard.

Once my muscles relax, my entire body does too, and I hug him tightly. “Hmm. So good,” I whisper.

“Yes, but you made me forget something.”

“Hmm?” I draw back and eye him.

“I am going to end up putting a baby inside you if we keep this up.”

I burst out laughing. “I’m on my period.”

“You re?” He looks confused.

“What is it?”

“I just wondered if it might feel different when a woman’s on her cycle. I, ah… You’re the only one I’ve never used a condom with.”

“Not true.”

His eyes narrow. “Yes. The other girls, I used a condom. Oh, right. In the closet, I used one.”

“And I used one now.”

“You did?”

“There’s still a slight, very slight, chance of pregnancy when a girl has her cycle, so I put on in before I came over.”

“A condom.”

I nod. “A female condom.”

“You really do think of everything, don’t you?”

“I might not have recognized you, but my memory isn’t completely shot,” I tease.

“You’re wrong,” he declares.

“About what?”

“You’re the one to have bewitched me.”

I grin. “If you say so.”

“I do.”

Maybe, just maybe, he’ll be repeating those words while wearing a tux and I’m wearing a white gown. For now, though, I’m just thrilled to have him in my life, and the love I have for him will only grow.

“Fine,” I say. “We bewitched each other. Happy?”

“Extremely.”

EPILOGUE

The Untamed Mermaid is a ridiculous name for a restaurant, but it’s fancy and elegant, at least on the outside. It’s also having its opening night on Friday, which just happens to be my nineteenth birthday, so it’s where I ask the girls if we can go.

I’m so glad my birthday is a Friday and not a Monday. Maybe it’s a bit much, but I don’t bother to go to my classes that day. Growing up, my parents always took off for their birthdays and for mine, and once I hit middle school, I might’ve convinced a few friends to pretend to be sick that day so we could all hang out and spend time together.

I might’ve done the same today with Eliza. She and I head over to the Untamed Mermaid at three in the afternoon. There’s a long line, and we have to wait until we reach the front to even be able to ask if they have an opening at all today. They wouldn’t give me a reservation over the phone.
