Two Harleys waited for us in the parking lot.
Bibi handed me a helmet. “Have you ever ridden before?”
I shook my head, still in total shock. In the span of five minutes I’d walked out of my job, pissed my sister off, and I was back onThe Mating Game, and that was before we factored in the artifact in my purse.
“That’s a shame, and a good thing we’re about to fix that right now. Gabriel’s going to climb onto that gorgeous bike, and he’ll keep everything steady while you join him. Hang onto him, and move with him. This is gonna be so much fun.” She put on her helmet and climbed onto her purple Harley.
Gabe gave me another sinful smile before I did as Bibi said. The lion had me exactly where he wanted me.
And I could think of a few places I wanted him.
I had to stop thinking like this. Gabe was Gabe. No matter how good he looked. Or how his body rumbled with pure animal energy. He didn’t suddenly become sexier in proportion to how much danger I was in.
Problem was, he most certainlyhad, and I didn’t know what to do about it.
“I didn’t tell her why you called.” There was no way Bjorn’s camera would pick up his voice over the roar of the motorcycle engines. “But I think you should.”
“I have to.” I swallowed hard and climbed onto the bike. “Or else I might be putting them in serious danger.”

“Looks like we have some commitment issues to deal with,” Bibi said as she flipped through a rack of clothes far more fabulous than anything in my closet. On a scale of Wanda to Bibi, I’d been hovering dangerously close to Wanda lately in the fashion department.
How she got these ready for me on such short notice…
The production team had probably sourced all this stuff before my episode started. My heart panged knowing that I’d let them down, but they still had it ready and waiting for me as soon as I was willing.
Bibi believed in me.
“I wouldn’t exactly call them issues.” The hum of the motorcycle engine was still vibrating between my legs. At least, that was what I was going to tell myself was happening. It had nothing to do with the way Gabe’s body felt when I wrapped my arms around him, or the way he was willing to play this dangerous game because he knew I needed him.
As long as he couldn’t tell how much I wanted him.
“Then what would you call quitting your real estate job—”
“I went back there because I felt bad about myself—”
“Because you quitThe Mating Game. A pattern has emerged, and you have a sexy shifter waiting out there who is committed to spending forever with you. When the two of you were looking at each other, there were so many sparks flying I’m surprised we didn’t get a visit from the fire department. The question is, will you let him fall in love with you?”
I had to tell her now. “I didn’t call Gabe because I wanted to come back on the show.”
She furrowed her brow, the move exaggerated by her bejeweled lashes. “But you agreed to start your episode again.”
“I did.”
“Then why are we here?”
My heart pounded hard enough to break a rib. “Remember I told you about my old archeology gig?”
“Of course.”
“I was working at that housing development that’s too close to shifter land for comfort, and the bulldozer pushed this up.” I pulled the Scepter out of my bag.
Bibi’s mouth dropped and she took a cautious step forward. Did she know what it was?
