“I wanted to talk about this.” He gestured between the four of us. “And about how it’s affecting our work.”
Jagger sat down next to me with a heavy sigh, raising an eyebrow at Flint. “What is it now?”
“You two were out there, spending time alone together,” Flint said, crossing his arms over his chest.
“And?” Jagger sat back in his chair, nonchalant, which only wound Flint up more.
“We could have been working together. We could have been doing other things.” He took a sip of his wine. “I don’t want to share Arden, but having her with both of you is splitting our time. Our attention.Myattention.”
I opened my mouth to protest, but Flint held up a hand. I almost spoke anyway, but the dead serious look in his eyes kept me quiet.
“I want Arden to choose,” he continued. “Just one of us.”
“I don’t want to,” I replied. “I want all three of you equally.”
A muscle in Flint’s jaw twitched. “That doesn’t change the fact that bouncing back between us is getting in the way of the mission. We have a job to do. We have to focus.”
“I think you mean that your refusal to just let her have all of us is getting in the way.” Jagger’s shoulders tensed.
The two stared each other down for a few moments before Flint looked away.
“That’s part of it, yes,” he admitted. “It all falls under the same category. I think we should agree not to touch Arden until she chooses one of us.”
“How is that supposed to work?” Lex’s brow furrowed. “She just said she doesn’t want to choose just one.”
“For now. What if that changes?”
Flint had a point. I did want them all equally right now, but what if I changed my mind? What if one of them changedhismind? I hadn’t come close to being in love before, but now, I was falling in love with each of them for different reasons. Maybe I was overwhelmed with all the great sex and fluttery feelings.
Flint studied me, almost as if he were reading my thoughts.
“Fine, I’ll go along with it,” Lex said. “How do you want to do this?”
“We should create a spell,” Flint said. “None of us can touch Arden below the underwear and vice versa. No sex, no oral, no kissing.”
“All right, but what if we break the rules before Arden decides?”
“Then the person who does loses their kingdom and all of their money to the other two.” Flint extended his hand to Lex. “Agreed?”
Lex hesitated. “Agreed.”
The two clasped hands and held them for a moment while Flint created the spell. A glowing sphere appeared around their hands, then disappeared. Flint extended his hand to Jagger next, but Jagger sat back, a wicked grin on his face.
“I’m not agreeing to that bullshit,” he said. He pulled me out of my chair and across his lap, kissing me breathless. “She’s the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time. I’m going to keep fucking her.”
Lex’s neck flushed. “Well, shit. I didn’t mind sharing, actually.”
“Not my fault.” Jagger pulled me closer. “The choice is still in Arden’s hands.”
Chapter27
Lex
Flint was wrong. Having this spell that kept us from kissing or having sex with Arden only made me more distracted.
As we did before we found the artifact, we took turns taking Arden to work and keeping an eye on her during her shift. Plus, we saw who came in and out of the coffee shop to gather potential clues.
Not being able to kiss her goodbye or work off the sexual frustration that was building more and more each day was fucking annoying. I’d never jerked off more in my life than I had in the past few days. Still, the aching need in my cock wasn’t satisfied.
