I give him a little grin, and he lights up. It takes away my frustrations just a tad. I can’t wait to spend our holiday anniversary with him.
“Ooh, that sounds fun,” Blake says, leaning in on the table. “So you’re really just a little chef, huh?”
Jesse chuckles humbly.
“Seriously… more than just gingerbread dicks on the menu?” Kenneth asks, amused.
“Hell yea,” Jesse says. “I’ve got a whole ass menu prepared.”
Blake and Kenneth laugh, clearly impressed. Which they should be, because he’s awesome.
“Do you work in a restaurant?” Kenneth asks Jesse.
“No,” he murmurs timidly, fiddling with his glass. “No, I just like to cook…”
“Not yet,” I cut in, and he peeks at me. “But he easily could. He could run his own restaurant if he wanted to.”
Jesse stifles an illuminated smile. “Maybe someday…”
“You will, baby,” I tell him softly, confidence lining my tone. “I fully believe you can do whatever you want. I mean, we know you can…”
He lets out an adorable little chuckle while giving me some major swoon eyes.
Unfortunately, I forgot we’re not alone.
“Awww!” Blake cries. “That’s so sweet! You two really are adorable together.” He tilts his drink in my direction while speaking to Jesse. “He’s so supportive of you. You’re lucky.” His eyes flit to Kenneth. “This one doesn’t always support my passions…”
Kenneth rolls his eyes. “That’s because your passions are creating an OnlyFans and seeking out endless partners for content.”
Jesse, who was taking a sip, spits into his drink, immediately coughing hysterically as I rub his back, all the while eyeing the two dudes across the table.
I knew this was coming…
Blake argues with his partner. “Don’t act like you don’t enjoy the research.”
The food arrives, as the perfect distraction from this increasingly awkward topic of conversation. Not a fan of where that was going…
As usual, the food here is delicious, so we eat joyfully while making slightly more casual small talk. The guys tell us about what they actually do, outside of recording themselves sleeping with other guys, that is. And it surprises absolutely no one to find out that Kenneth is rich.
Like, very rich.
“I was a broker on Wall Street,” he tells us. “But after my second health scare, I decided the stress was just too much. The money wasn’t worth my life. So now I spend most of my time traveling with this one.” He juts his thumb in Blake’s direction. “Collecting art, hosting benefits, investing… Things like that.”
“Sounds fun,” Jesse says with a polite smile, and I watch him closely, wondering if he thinks that’s a better life than what we have here.
Does he want more? Is he… unsatisfied??
God, I hate this. I hate being in my head all the time. It’s exhausting.
“Sort of similar to what you guys are doing, right?” Blake asks, looking between us. My forehead lines. “Jesse told us the other day that you’re in early retirement mode right now. You sold your business and whatnot…”
I look at Jesse, and he gives me a timid smirk. He really just told them all about our lives, huh?
“Yea, it’s a little different,” I grumble. “But… sort of. I’m sure I’ll need to do something else, but at least we have time to relax for a while.”
The guys smile along and nod, though who knows if they’re really grasping what I’m saying. I think more than anything, they’re checking us out and trying to gauge whether we’d be interested in sleeping with them.
Look, I’m not saying they’re unattractive… Sure, I’ve never found any man other than Jesse sexually attractive, but objectively, these two are certainly good-looking.
